“Below Acceptable Service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2007

Waited at hostess station, no hostess and no one acknowledged we were waiting. Finally a waitress seated us and was friendly enough. Food was way over priced. Received our bill, handed the waitress our credit card. When she returned, she had changed the amount of the original charge. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but hard to tell how you could transpose the numbers?? Felt scammed. This like every other place we ate was over priced and understaffed.

“Good breakfast spot!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2007

We had two breakfast at Houstons and we both enjoyed it. The waitresses were friendly and the decor was an interesting western theme. Excellent hash brown potatoes!! We also went for dinner and I tried the specialty, chicken fried steak. I am from the northeast so I can't compare this to other places but it was tasty. They were full that night and after waiting about 15 minutes for our order, they brought us a bowl of nacho chips and salsa to hold us over, on the house, a nic gesture.

“A Great Southern Utah Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2006

If you like Great Southern Utah home-style cooking this is the place. I live in Utah and always return to this great spot. The 6 guns on the waitresses are always a nice touch for this real western restaurant.

“Worst service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2006

When my husband and I got there, the front room of the restaurant was full with many people waiting. We got in line and were seated in a few minutes in the back room where only 3 or 4 tables were occupied. The girl who seated us indicated that she would get us a waitress right away. We waited for a while and noticed that the girl brought in another two tables of guests. She came over again and said that our waitress would be right with us.

Another few minutes passed. A waitress came to serve one of the two tables mentioned above. And then another waitress came to serve the other table while no one came to us. We asked the second waitress if she was our waitress. She said she wasn't and she didn't know who our waitress was and then left the room.

Now we realized that we were the only "non-caucasian" in the entire restaurant and if we didn't make a noise, we would probably never be served. So we went to the front desk to check with the girl (who brought us in) who our waitress was and why we were still not served while people who came in after us had already been served. The owner (probably the father of the girl) came over, apologized and said he would be with us right away. He did come to take our order soon.

No matter what the reason was, this was the most unpleasant experience in our lives.

Some places just get it right, and this is one of them. Excellent food in good surroundings.
