It's amazing to see where they put this amphitheater, right in the middle of this canyon, I loved it but at the same time I wish it wasn't in the canyon, I wish the canyon had been left alone, oh well.

We've gone to Tuacahn for many different events over the past few years. This review is about the venue. I'll offer others for individual performances and productions. Tuacahn is located at the end of a stunningly beautiful red rock canyon, just outside St. George, Utah. It consists of the Tuacahn Amphitheater which is set against the cliffs seats about 2000 people. There isn't a bad seat in the place. The design lends itself to a one in the world kind of place to stage concerts and productions of all kinds. The main season runs from June to October, usually with two to four major Broadway productions. They are affordable and the quality of everything we have attended was excellent. Many of the performers are professional and have preformed on Broadway and other places. The setting ant their state of the art equipment allow them to do things that could never be done in an indoor setting. They can flood the stage, use fireworks, perform overhead and above the audience, use live animals and vintage vehicles just to name a few. The creative staff and directors continue to amaze us with the things they can do.

In addition they have a Charter High School for the Performing Arts, which also has an indoor Hafen Theater that is used for many events. They have a large Plaza where they often have free pre-shows, and you can mingle with cast members after productions. The entire setting has beautiful water features and beautiful desert landscaping.

It's just a nice, fun pace to go whether as a couple, family or with friends. We have taken New Yorker's there and they have told us that the quality of the performances equals and occasionally surpasses anything they had seen on Broadway.

We recently attended a performance of Mary Poppins the musical at Tuacahn. Most of the production was "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" but there were severl numbers that left us scratching our heads and wondering why they were included. For example, the musical number with the creepy music and the toys that come alive was somewhat out of place in an otherwise joyful production. The inclusion of Mr. Banks horrible childhood nanny also seemed out of sync with the rest of the characters. We loved the chimney sweeps and the fireworks and the closing numbers. The aerial effects with Mary Poppins and Bert were well done and added to the play. There were a couple of scenery errors, and the play was a little too long. Overall, though, it was well-acted and the singing was top-notch.

As a local, I have had the opportunity to visit Tuacahn over the past several years and see it grow. With the addition of several Disney productions each season, Tuacahn is really coming into its' own. The red rock amphitheater is a stunning setting, and the acting company does a wonderful job of being as great as the venue. The productions always have something special - sometimes it's flooding the stage (as in The Little Mermaid), actors flying through the air (Tarzan & Mary Poppins), and fireworks to cap off the evening. I'd recommend that anyone visiting the area should make a point of catching a show!

We were in town visiting relatives and took in a show. Our whole family was very impressed with the excellent production that was put on in the amphitheater. Very wonderful acting and the setting was amazing!
