There are not a lot of food choices on scenic and historic Route 6 from Salt Lake to I-70, so we were delighted when we arrived in this town and found the Balance Rock Eatery right on Main Street. The food was good but the restaurant owner's story was even better. She grew up in Helper, left and worked in the city. But she decided to come back, invest in her hometown and raise her family here. This is a former mining town, she said, which was once teeming with bars, restaurants, hotels and brothels. Don't miss the giant statue of the coal miner right outside the library!

You will not leave here hungry. Very pleasant inside and the service is great. Food was prepared and served in great time. Fantastic food for the price, reasonable for we average folks.

I have been hearing about Balance Rock for a long time. I drove from SLC just to eat there. The new owners are great! I watched as they filled coffee cups and chatted at each guest. They are so friendly and make everyone feel like family. We ordered breakfast and it was great. The scones are to die for! As are the Rock Chips!
We were able to chat with the owners and found out how involved they are in the community. On Thanksgiving they opened up the place for the homeless and people that didn't have a place to go. We will definitely be making that drive again!

PS JB's ain't got nothin' on this place.

We stopped here based on Tripadvisor reviews.

The restaurant is in a store front. It is an intersting open area with old wooden table and chairs. It's very clean.

It has an all day breakfast menu. It has sandwiches and burgers and simile foods.

It was interesting to see the town. Food was ok. Service was very good. We are glad we stopped.
