“Successful event at the Lodge!”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

This is the second year we have had a fundraiser at the Lodge at Stillwater. Our events always seem to go so well. The staff was great to work with the many changes we had and followed through with promises they made. They recently had a change in management, and despite a few hiccups, everything worked out with a little bit of extra communication. We got there and everything was ready to go as planned which made the event even more seamless.

MiKaela, the event coordinator, was there the entire time to help make the event run smoothly. She was very easy to contact for any changes or follow-up that we needed. We would definitely recommend holding any sort of events at the Lodge. It is a beautiful space fit for a wide variety of events.

Thank you Parker Brown Property Management and the Lodge at Stillwater for allowing us to have another successful event at the Lodge!

My daughter and I took a mid week break from daily life to relax at the lodge. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and kind. The room was beautiful and the views were amazing! We used the hot tubs and exercise room. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there!

My husband and I recently stayed 2 nights at the Lodge at Stillwater for a wedding. While the wedding was fantastic, I was extremely disappointed with the customer service offered by this establishment.

To begin, when my husband called to make a reservation, he was told that he would have a confirmation emailed to him. After waiting a week or so for said confirmation to arrive, he called back, confirmed they did indeed have the correct email address and was again told a confirmation would be emailed to him. Again, nothing. After several more calls, we FINALLY received an email confirmation nearly a month later. This should have been a sign....

Upon arrival, the front desk staff (while not outright hostile) was certainly apathetic, but we received our room keys and were told that the bill would be taken care of with the credit card on file (from the reservation). We had booked a two-room suite to share with another couple in the wedding, and the rooms were nice enough, although nothing spectacular. However when my husband went to turn on the TV in the main room, he discovered that there was no HDMI cable connecting the TV to the receiver. When he went to let the front desk know (and to ensure we weren't charged for it)....he was again met with more apathy. We never did get a replacement cable.

This set the tone for the rest of the trip. In helping set up for the wedding, we found the front desk staff to honestly be the least helpful they could possibly be, not to mention their perpetual nasty attitude.

I will say that the event planner who was helping with the wedding WAS phenomenal. She was cheerful, helpful, and personable. She really did an absolutely fantastic job, and was there cleaning up at the end of the night with the same chipper attitude and happy smile that she had worn at the beginning of the day. We were very impressed with her, as well as with the bartender who worked the wedding.

Finally, as a culmination of the really terrible customer service that seems to be the norm with the Lodge at Stillwater, two days after we returned from the trip, my husband received a call saying from someone at the front desk claiming that they 'must have entered the credit card information incorrectly' because it wouldn't run. When told this seemed slightly fishy to us, the representative on the phone informed us that she would 'take us to small claims court'. My (nicer than I am) husband re-gave her the credit card information, and we have since found out that something similar happened to at least 3 other groups staying at the Lodge for a wedding. Apparently incompetence as well as rudeness are what Stillwater employees are trained in.

Also, despite the lovely pictures on the website, this place is not situated prettily against the lake or nestled against the hillside. Rather it is right off the highway, as in our room gave us a lovely view of cars traveling by. Overall extremely disappointing.

I can't say I would recommend this place for it's location while I absolutely can say I would NEVER recommend anyone stay here due to its shoddy practices with credit cards as well as its abysmal customer service.

Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: My suggestion would be to choose a room at a different hotel.

We had our wedding at this lodge. Apparently they had a management change and they didn't even notify us. We found out when we called to ask why our guests couldn't reserve a room there and we were told to call a different number due to the management change. Would have been nice to have been told about the change in management during our wedding. Thank goodness they didn't change wedding planners on us. During our stay the customer service at the front desk was horrible. You'd go up with an issue and they didn't seem to care or handle it professionally. We asked multiple times if they had a walk in cooler for our beer and alcohol and they said yes, when we arrived with the beer they didn't have a walk in cooler and we had to use coolers to chill the drinks but it worked out in the end. Michela from Parker Brown was the bomb though, she was there the whole time with us whereas the front desk staff from the other company didn't The rooms were nice and everything seemed to work well. The views are nice and it is in a decent location. Be aware that some of the rooms seem to be time shares because they have clothing and personal items in them and the A/C units are in the rooms and very noisy in certiain rooms and led to poor sleep for many of our guests. Overall I think the place could be a lot more with the proper staff and management.

I was staying at the Lodge at Stillwater as they were going through a management change. It was disruptive, but the new team really went out of their way to try and help me. It was obvious why the old team were being shown the door - they were rude, didn't clean rooms properly and generally tried to disruptive everyone's stay. They caused a lot of trouble, but the new team was humble and reassuring. All of my dealings with the new team were professional and very helpful. The new General Manager, Pam, really went out of her way to make sure my needs were met - even driving me because Parker-Brown had taken the shuttle!

The Lodge at Stillwater has the potential to be a really nice place to stay. The rooms are comfy and well appointed, the hot tubs are warm and the fitness center is better than some I have seen. It is secluded and the mountain views are beautiful. Things that I hope the new team will bring include complementary breakfast for guests and better coffee in the rooms; the little things that make the difference between a place to stay and somewhere I would come back to.

I would give them a second chance as they are a nice quiet spot with uncrowded apre-ski spaces (like a hot tub to ourselves). When not worrying about the old management team, it was a nice place to unwind after a day on the hill.

Room Tip: Some rooms are a really long walk from the elevators - but they are worth the walk the views are bet...

We stayed here for a wedding last weekend. We ran into problems right from the start. The front desk told us "they're TRYING to clean your room." What this means, we still don't know. After waiting around for two hours, we were finally able to get into our room. But this was only after we complained and even offered to switch to a smaller room, if one was ready. Just as we complained, the room was miraculously ready. There was a foam mat lying on the floor and a light up christmas tree in the room...very odd. It was spacious with a beautiful porch and view, but honestly, when it comes to hotels, its all about the service in the end. And this hotel was SERIOUSLY lacking in this area. The hotel was going through a change in management, and apparently it had all new staff. This wasn't exactly pointed out to us, but we were able to deduce as much by all the chaos going on. You'd think the front desk staff would be apologetic, in which case we would have been sympathetic. But NO, they were aloof, rude, unhelpful, unfriendly, unorganized and incompetent. Our patience was tested over and over again. We were here for a wedding and the "event coordinator" did NOTHING to help the bride. After being out of touch for a week, she contacted her the afternoon of the wedding!! A group of the bride and groom's friends had to set up and take down the tables and chairs themselves. They didn't even have anyone bus the tables. The manager's sons were caught trying to steal some wedding cake. The bride got her car broken into in the "SECURE" basement garage on the night of the wedding. Computers and phones were down all weekend. CAN YOU IMAGINE? And the bride was given no "heads up" that her wedding venue was changing management THE DAY BEFORE HER WEDDING. A friend of ours had a stranger walk into their room at 1AM, say "Oh sorry...just checking on the room", and leave. Was it a hotel worker, or maybe a guest who was given out a master key?? There were problems with keys working all weekend, and several guests were given out master keys, which had us worried about the safety of our belongings all weekend. We were supposed to have a free continental breakfast, but when we arrived on time, we were told they had "called out for it", so we ended up just picking up some bagels in town. Honestly, I could go on and on. THIS WAS BY FAR THE MOST RIDICULOUS PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED....and this was all because of the hotel staff and management. DO NOT COME HERE FOR A WEDDING OR EVENT!!! YOU ARE WARNED!!!!

I don't know where to start with this train wreck of an establishment. When we arrived, the management was in the process of completely changing over after being removed by the home owners association (that was the rumor, at least). This should have been our first clue to leave immediately. The managers were fighting in front of the guests, all the computers were wiped clean (no reservations) and the hotel was being emptied -fridges, safes, plates and all - through the front door. There were cops in the lobby all weekend trying to determine what the hell was going on. We misplaced our key at one point and it took the front desk staff multiple tries to figure out the card-making machine. When that didn't work we were given a master key - and told not to go into anyone else's room. WHAT?!?!?! That should be illegal and probably is. Breakfast was a joke. Multiple cars were broken into in the parking garage. The phones lines were down the entire weekend. We were there for a wedding and the wedding cake disappeared at the end of the night. Basically, find another place to stay. The view is beautiful, but that is the only good thing about this dump. We must have said 100 times, "You know what surprised me about this hotel..." In the end, nothing surprised us, but the fact that we stayed as long as we did.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.
