“Hidden Gem, Excellent Burgers”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

I stopped here for lunch on a motorcycle tour and was pleasantly surprised by the food and staff. Friendly waitress who didn't rush us (it was 105 F outside!), engaged us in great conversation and made terrific recommendations. The hamburger was one of the best I've had! Very clean, good portions, nice decor (gotta love the Duke) and comfortable setting. Highly recommend stopping if you're taking the scenic route through southern Utah!

“good service and food”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We arrived in Hanksville around 9:30 and were told by our hotel clerk (same owners) that this place and one other (also same owner) were open to ten. We were greeted and seated by pleasant staff who made no effort to rush us. The place is very rustic, but clean. The service from Sara was attentive, friendly and very professional. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, a soft shell taco dish, and a grilled chicken platter. All were tasty and large portions. The complimentary cornbread was excellent. The food had a lot of seasoning and, I suspect, sodium, so you might want to specify if you want them to hold off on salt and/or pepper.

“Duke's was a pleasant surprise after a long day's travel”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

My friend and I had spent a long day traveling up the spectacular Hwy 12 in Utah and wondered what we were going to do about dinner. We were not optimistic considering that we were in the middle of nowhere, but we noticed this unique little restaurant when we were passing through Hanksville.

This place is a nice oasis and was just what the doctor ordered after a brutally hot day of traveling. We were greeted immediately and everyone was extremely friendly. Just as soon as we sat down we were brought huge mugs of ice water (104° outside) and a delicious square of cornbread with some honey/butter.

The menu was descriptive and impressive and everything sounded delicious. We both had the giant burger with the jalapenos and steak fries and they were very good, from bun to the fresh peppers, yum. The service was outstanding, the server was very friendly and I am hard pressed to come up with anything negative about this place. Duke's is certainly a diamond in the rough and if you are in the area, please stop and eat, you will be glad that you did.

“Very friendly staff!”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

After a long, hot day of hiking, Duke's Slick Rock Grill offered hearty eats for he whole family. The breaded onion rings and fresh cut fries were a hit..though not he healthiest, definitely comfort food after a long day! What really stood out to us was the friendly waitresses. All smiles and helpful...we truly felt welcome in their space. So much so that we had our breakfast there the next morning, despite the complimentary fare offered at the motel we stayed. Breakfast was loved by all and again, smiles were everywhere!

If you've ever wondered where the middle of nowhere is, it just might be Hanksville, UT.. Just look at the map. But fear not. Duke's SlickRock Grill is an oasis of good burgers and ribs, not to mention friendly, efficient service.
