We travel a LOT, and enjoy staying in "budget" motels that are not chains - and represent "Americana." That was our thought when we booked this hotel online. Additionally, since we normally only stay for one night (on our way to somewhere), my partner likes to keep the cost down. After years of traveling this way, this motel is the first time that we were absolutely disgusted, and chose to sleep in our car rather than in the hotel room. First, the property is mostly condemned. There is yellow "Do Not Cross" tape draped everywhere. The pool is covered over. The view out our window was of an abandoned and rusted vehicle; and behind that was the back side of another condemned building. The carpet in the room was so disgusting that we wouldn't take our shoes off. The room smelled of mold. The bathtub (if you want to call it that - it was more like a 6" high drain basin, or a tub made for really small people) didn't drain. We didn't want to bring any of our belongings inside, in case bugs or bacteria got on them. The front desk person tried to make us pay for the room a second time - even though we had confirmation of payment in full. And that was after we were made to wait 15 minutes (after ringing the bell) for anyone to come to the desk. The upside? My partner no longer insists that we book the cheapest place around! SCORE :-)

Room tip: I wouldn't trust the stairs. If you HAVE to stay here, make sure you get a ground floor room.

This place is a dump! Never book a room here – you may not survive the evening. The outside is a dump and the rooms are worse! Dirty, dirty, dirty - soiled carpet, towels, sheets, chairs, just plain nasty! Grime on the dresser and end tables, mold on the walls, ceiling, bath mat and shower floor. Urine on the bathroom floor and toilet. Homeless people sleeping in rooms obviously already condemned. Zero security. Took us 2 minutes to realize we were not staying another minute longer. When we dropped off the keys at the front desk, the attendant could not wait to remind us that there are absolutely no refunds. The attendant stated that there is only one person working and the rooms we received were not cleaned BUT STILL no refund!

The motel does not provide coffee or breakfast but they do offer a $3 credit for breakfast at a local restaurant. A one night stay is fine since the room was big, clean, comfortable with a refrigerator and micro wave--and the clerk very friendly. The property is another matter--it is in extremly need of repairs--the restaurant no longer exists, the swimming pool is covered with what looks like concrete, 2/3rs of the buildings are falling apart with one of the staircases blocked off because the stairs are falling off.

Room tip: Only 1/3 of the building has rooms--get one on the first floor because not sure of the remaining stairs.

Moab has NO DEALS and I wasn't about to drop $120 for one night. Stayed here on two different occaisions and it was just fine. Yes it's old and funky but the gal I dealt with was very nice and suggested a great place to eat. I'm watching a bit of TV and sleeping. No problem!
