Although we were not spoilt by great restaurants during our raod trip, the dinner at the La Veracruzana was one of the worst experiences.

None of us was really satisfied. The food was almost tasteless and the service left plenty of room for improvement.

We won't return.

Green River is a sad little place, with many buildings shuttered and not much on offer for eating. This restaurant is old and without any 'old charm'. The food was poorly cooked -- very overcooked spicy shrimp (tough as nails), and beef ranchero that was so salty I could only eat about half of it. Having had really good Mexican food at small places along our trip, this experience was certainly in last place. To think that, with some attention in the kitchen, this could be the gem that some others have described.

This is a pretty average Mexican restaurant, and there's nothing wrong with that. The food was good and plentiful. The beef enchilada featured shredded beef. The chili relleno was the largest I've ever seen. The atmosphere is pretty cafe-like. The service was friendly and efficient. Don't let the outside appearance fool you -- you'll get a good meal at a reasonable price.

Green River offers extremely little in the dining department so we thought we'd try Veracruzana. The food was fine...simple...not spicy but OK. The restaurant itself is a freaky time capsule of 1940. Vinyl hand cut scalloped curtainy thing...dressed up Mexican Barbie dolls, ancient floral red carpet. Ay yi yi, no es bueno.

you must deserve this place, located on the main drag of a town - really an oasis - that has known better economic times; yet it's a convenient motel stop on the I-70.
Veracurzana has kept a decor from the 60es, aluminium tabletop and stools, more comfortable tables also. But it's yummy, home made Mexican food, with fresh vegetables. We particularly liked the slowly cooked pork (NOT the pork chops, the other pork dish) with guacamole and fresh flour or corn tortillas. With a cold Corona beer, it's a delicious moment. The overall bill was very low by the standard of the meal, and the service was all smiles.
