My friend and I ate breakfast here one morning at this unique coffee house in the middle of the canyon country. You order at the counter, get your own coffee and they will serve your order. I had oatmeal pancakes with real maple syrup and organic coffee. The coffee is excellent. Never had oatmeal pancakes before so I don't have anything to compare. However, they were good. Many people come here for the outstanding view that each table has.

Stopped and had a hot tea and pastry. Excellent pastry and hot tea hit the spot on a cold morning. Would recommend to anyone needing a break on the drive on highway 12 to stop in and enjoy a drink and some good food.

Kiva Kofeehouse is an unexpected treat on Hwy 12 and well worth a stop. The scenery is breathtaking from the outside deck and the coffee was surprisingly good. A wonderful place to break the drive and take in the wonder of mother nature.

They also offer free wifi, along with a good selection of baked goods.

Stop here every time I pass by. Its very quaint interior and lovely views are worth it. The whole atmosphere is unhurried. They also have very fresh drinks and coffee. Breakfast is always very fresh and enjoyable too. Their baked goods are a great snack either while visiting or to take along on the road. There are always flowers and small garden which adds to the view as you watch the ground squirrels and birds visit there just outside the window.

Though we stayed in Escalante for 5 days, our day trips and explorations took us by way of Kiva Kaffeehouse a few times. This quirky little cafe on UT 12 enjoys stunning views from all sides of its semicircular architecture. With a simple menu of beverages and fresh baked muffins, cookies, snacks and sandwiches, it's a perfect place to stop for a quick refreshment, or to while away the hours relaxing and taking in the views.
We did both. On day one it was a fast break as we toured UT 12 from Escalante to Boulder and the Burr Trail. Excellent coffee drinks and delicious fruit soda hit the spot. On day two we were seeking a relaxing place to sit and chat, as our dear friend Tet14 from overseas caught us up on his life for the past two years, and we shared stories of our adventures from the past and our plans for more in the future. Being travel lovers as we are, there was no shortage of tales and ideas.
The patio at KK is possibly the most charming spot in all of the west. The highway is somewhat remote, but since it enjoys status as one of the world's most scenic byways, it is fairly well traveled, and the cafe is a perfect spot along the way.
