“This place is Hot!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

Really this is a beautiful area, it has not changed that much since the last time I was there 25 years ago. My wife and kids enjoyed the hike and the water was cold after the hike in. The hike out was hot by 1 pm but that is expected in the desert. We have talked about going for a week next time.

“Review on the Calf Creek Campground”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

Hiked into the Peak-a-boo and Spooky slot canyon in early July and camped in the Calf Creek Campground for 2 nights. The campground is absolutely amazing. It is very quiet. Each site is surrounded with some vegetation to give you some privacy from the other campers and to break any on coming strong winds. Sand ground for an easy sleep. Very inexpensive at $15. The camp host David is extremely friendly. Greets everyone who comes in and gives advise on where to go. The campground itself is a study area for humming birds with sugar water setup to lure them in. You can see multiple humming birds at a time.

My favorite camp ground thus far on my roadtrip coming from Chicago visiting national parks.

Definitely check out the slot canyons nearby. The canyons here are way too underrated. Take note that to get to some of these canyons, you will have to get through some really rough dirt/gravel road. Use a SUV or 4x4.

“Great hike to waterfalls”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014

My family of six loved this beautiful hike. Though the hike says inly a slight elevation gain, this hike is a bit grueling, and I have just hiked rim to rim of the grand canyon. This hike is doable, but definitely not an easy hike. Also, if you have dogs, please do not bring them on this hike unless you have plenty of water for them, and protection for their paws. The sand is very hot and their poor little paws will burn.

“Beautiful Hike”

One of the best hikes I've been on. Such a wonder how somewhere so lush can be smack dab in the middle of the Desert.

“High waterfall at the end of an easy hike”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

We enjoyed the hour and a half walk along the Calf Creek. At the start of the walk we picked up a pamphlet describing about 12 points of interest which made the walk interesting. At the end of the walk you come to a very high waterfall, so unexpected in the desert. There was a perfect shady place to eat our sandwiches while enjoying the view. Too bad the water was too cold to enter. Somehow the walk back seemed much shorter.
