We did the interpretive trail all the way to the end and it was so worth it. We notice people turning around half way because there weren't seeing the petrified wood right away. If they would've kept on going up hill, they would have seen a huge and colorful display of petrified wood. These were the biggest pieces that I have ever seen!

Sensory overload. The panoramic views just kept on going. What beautiful nature lovers paradice. Full of diverse plants and wildlife. Only negative was there weren't enough large pulloffs for someone with a truck & camper.

We camped here for 6 days and had a great time. We used it as a basecamp to explore all of Highway 12. We put our canoe on the little resvior (we were there in Spring, in summer this place would be heaven for swimming). The Petrified Forest hike was fun. The bathrooms were all clean. We stayed in the RV section and its new with few trees, the older loop has lots of nice Cottonwoods. We'll be back for sure.

There were 11 stops on this hike that explained what you were seeing. There was an incredible amount of petrified wood. And the hike was very doable for all ages.

We stopped at the park and did their short hike through the petrified forest. It's not nearly what you would see in the petrified forest in Arizona, but the hike was a nice warm-up, and the views were terrific. Worth a stop if you have the time.
