We stayed in a quaint log cabin which was very comfy. It had a fridge and microwave but no kitchenette. The view was of a little lake and we sat outside enjoying the fire pit with pre-cut wood looking at the stars. The area is gorgeous and with a bit of a walk, one can overlook Flaming Gorge. We took a horse-back ride along the rim which was fun with lovely views of wild flowers and flashes of the gorge below. The meal the night before in the restaurant was splendid and convenient. We'll be back!

There is nothing quite like the view of the sky and stars from a chair placed around a glowing fire! You experienced what we hope all of our guests take the time to experience!

We stayed at the campground and our Host Butch and Tommie were awesome and made sure we did not go without fire wood! We were able to have WiFi at Red Canyon Lodge Resturant and ate like Queens there! We woke up to Long Horn Sheep grazing outside our tent and made friends with the Yellow Bellied Marmots at the Lodge! The view from out campsite was breathtaking! The hiking was amazing! We took the horseback riding tour and our Guide, Dallas was very informative about all the local wildlife and native pandorosa pines! He also was super funny and we wish that we would have done the 2 hour ride that took you pass the bear caves etc....it was that much fun! He took two city girls and made them feel like real cowgirls for the day;-) we even got to pet and feed the horses later that day! The natural beauty of the Flaming Gorge was inspiring! The trip was not long enough..........definitely want to go back!!!

20 years ago we visited the area and ate at the restaurant and said if we ever came back we would stay here. So years go by and we do come back and everything was great. The ponderosa cabins are small but plenty for 2 adults and their dog. The lakes are beautiful and provided lovely walks. the trails around the red canyon visitor center have wonderful views. The restaurant still provides great dinners 20 years later. All in all a very peaceful and enjoying place.

We like to think that while the world keeps changing and life moving at a faster and more furious pace, there needs to be a place that doesn't change and isn't hurried. When you come to Red Canyon Lodge we welcome you to a slower pace. Our commitment is to a quality experience, whether you are staying with us or just eating in our restaurant. Thank you for letting us know that we are doing it right!

The Red Canyon Lodge is in a beautiful setting near Flaming Gorge. The Alpine cabins are small but comfortable. The Ponderosa cabins are not too much more expensive and much larger. Even for two people I would get the larger cabin. The staff is very helpful. Close by is an overlook into Flaming Gorge, gorgeous. There are deer, big horn sheep and lots of marmots nearby.
The horse wranglers, Dallas and Wayne, are really great. They make sure every rider is well taken care of during the trail rides.
This beautiful spot is worth a visit!

So glad you enjoyed your stay and that the neighboring animals showed up to welcome you and we've said it before, 'we love our Cowboys!'.

great place for a family. although it is bit expensive, it is well worth the money spent. we like the lakes and the hiking trails. red canyon visit center is not far away. there are many trails. wish that the trails are better marked and better described.

Thanks for your review and comments! We are helping the US Forest Service in re-marking the area trails and have free detailed trail maps available at our front desk. We hope you come back and let us know how we did!
