“Basic Budget Motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

I was looking for a budget motel between Bryce & Kodachrome. Checking from Virginia, this seemed like a good choice.

What worked:
The price $69 per night
The owners (husband, wife, 6 kids) were exceptionally nice. We got great suggestions and their time answering all our questions.
The beds were comfortable, the room large and very, very clean.
Fridge in the room

What didn't work:
2 sub par microwaves in the hallway. I like to make my own instant coffee first thing in the morning and I'm not excited about having to get dressed and go into the hallway to use the microwave.
shower was not very strong although the hot water was wonderful.
Only one small waste basket in the room

You might want to know
Breakfast (I bring my own) is provided in store (toast, coffee, tea)
Groceries are available in store but expensive
No restaurants in Cannonville but there is a great coffee shop and some restaurants in nearby Tropic

Clean hotel. We stayed in a spacious room with 2 king size beds, very high ceiling, AC, and a fan.
Beds are comfortable, soap and shampoo is much better than average, there is a convinience store and a gas station on site. Bryce and Red Canyon are close but really there is much more more to do in Escalante and up road 12. Service was excellent; we came off season though (in mid April). It was the best hotel on this trip (among 4).

anyone planning to visit Bryce Canyon or the Grand Staircase National Monument should consider staying at the G/S Inn.It's about 25 mins from the entrance to Bryce & well worth
the drive. The rooms are BIG & really clean. The king size beds are comfy.Be advised though that there are no restaurants in the area, the nearest being in Tropic a few miles west.
we really like the friendly & helpful staff esp. Carlon who went out of his way to make sure we had a good time at the inn.Breakfast was basic but the variety was adequate. It also helped that there was a general store & gas station right at the inn since the location is pretty isolated.Guests can really get a good night's sleep because there's hardly any traffic on Kodachrome Dr.The staff even offered old towels to use as rags so as not to mess up the clean linen.
We intend to stay again at the G/S Inn when we visit the North Rim which was still closed late March. What a delight to find such an inn offering great value & service after 2 long days on the road that started from the Bay Area in CA.

Room Tip: get a room on the ground floor since the stairs are located outside the building.

The hotel is plain and simple as one might expect from the price. The room was neat and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Their is no elevator for rooms on the second or third floor. The location is about 13 miles from the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park and the hotel is less expensive than those hotels close to the park. However, there was a problem with the water heater. There was not enough hot water to take a cold shower which was a real downer after hiking Angel's landing at Zion N.P. about 70 miles away. The owners were very apologetic and made a partial credit on our bill. The continental breakfast included in the room price was toast, coffee and hot chocolate. Kodachrome State Park is located 8 miles south of the hotel. It is colorful, but anticlimatic after visiting Bryce. The ride along Utah 12 is impressive around Escalante Canyon between Escalante and Boulder. Petrified Forest State Park off Hwy 12 is in an attractive setting by a lake. It has a good interpretive trail that may be difficult for some people. The park may be a disappointment if you have seen Petrified National Forest in Arizona.

Super affordable really clean room . This place is a ghost town , but this hotel is located perfectly between Bryce , Kodachrome and one of the entrances for Grand Escalante and easy access to 12 and 14 both beautifully scenic roads to drive . The only two restaurants are in Tropic 5 miles or Ruby about 10 miles . Gas station and grocery store are part of the hotel . If you like super quiet youll love this place!

The hotel is nice, and clean rooms, very comfortable beds. There are 2 microwaves in each floor. A small breakfast is included ( hot chocolate, coffee, toast with butter and jam). There is a gas station just outside the hotel and a small market downstairs. The owners are really nice. The town has nothing to offer, to dine you have to go some miles away to tropic or at the entrance of Bryce Canyon park that is 10 minutes far by car. The hotel is perfect if you want to visit the park but you don't want to spend a lot. Highly recommended!

This motel is nothing special but the main advantage is that it is cheap for the area! We stayed there because we booked late and could not find anything else close to Bryce Canyon.
The rooms are large and quite comfortable, but do not expect anything fancy! The town is really small, there is nothing to do there. For the rest, the hotel is quiet and clean...
