Our boys enjoyed the walks - amazing landforms to photograph. Just have to watch the kids at the edges of the paths on occasions. The showers were superclean, and hugely spacious in the RV park.

Kodachrome Basin provides yet another unique geological formation--67 rock "pipes" unlike any others on earth. Although the park isn't huge and the views are not as overpowering as Zion or Bryce, they are beautiful and they provide yet more insight into the violent upheavals undergone by our planet millions of years ago. If you enjoy learning about the uplifting of the Colorado plateau and the formation of the unique topography of the SW, then take the time to go to this park. If, after seeing the major parks, you consider it all to be "rocks" then you should probably take a pass.

Parts of the park are gravel roads and poorly maintained. The views were great, but trails were run down.

Kodachrome Basin State Park was a wonderful surprise, full of incredible hikes and great views. Perhaps because of the $6 charge to get in, the place of empty and we only saw a couple of other people on our hikes.

The scenery is a combination of great colors, beautiful plant life, and lots of wildlife - in particular, jackrabbits. We walked up to the highest point and had a great view of the entire Grand Staircase.

When the Ranger Station is closed, you have to leave money in an envelope, so make sure you have cash. Also when it's closed, you can use the restrooms in the store by the campgrounds.

The hike we did was pretty spectacular, it was the mexican hat one. We weren't expecting it to be so hot compared to Cannonville weather. Add 10 or so degrees and prepare for heat and little shade. Also, going up above the arch was a cool hike, but not very save for little kids.
