“Great Value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

I stayed 2 quiet nights.
It is located the farthest from the entrance of Bryce Canyon among the 5 motels in Bryce (excluding Bryce Canyon Lodge, which is inside the park and more expensive).
In order to make up for the location disadvantage, the owners of this motel did really god jobs in renovating the inside of the motel.
The hot water came out promptly.
The shower was powerful enough and hot water came out wide to wrap around my body.
The wall of the rooms are wooden, giving it a relaxing atmosphere
I did not here sounds from next doors.
The beds are wide and firm enough.
I felt I got a great value for the $61 I paid per night.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise, the government was in shut down and we found ourselves faced with a choice to cancel our annual office retreat. I spoke with the hotel owner Ethel and she assured me that with Bryce Canyon closed, their was many ways to see Bryce, she was right!
45 people total, including spouses, children, 21 rooms.
The rooms are spotless, cabins with fireplaces and full kitchens, the beds are very comfortable.
We booked a 1/2 day horse ride to Red Canyon -33 horses it was a incredible trip to the rim of Bryce. The wranglers are very professional and not one person had any issues, the trip was on time and well organized.
The Horses very well behaved, we had 14 children ages 6-10 and all of them loved the trip and especially the horses.
The restaurant handled our large group well, even with a large bus showing up, the food was excellent, the pie is a must have, made by Ethel fresh daily.
ATV'ing from the hotel to Casto canyon and the Pansaugaunt was accessible with beautiful scenery, Casto Canyon has sustained a lot of water damage.
Bryce Canyon opened while we were down there, this topped off our 3 days.
I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms-some have a fireplace, cabins very quiet and some have full kitchens

We booked here to be really handy for sunrise and sunset in the park, and although we didn't see these, it was still a good choice. Our room was in a separate cottage, the bed was very comfy and had a great view in the morning. We had dinner and breakfast in the adjoining restaurant and apart from having to wait a little for dinner, the food was good and the servers very friendly and helpful. When we checked in, we were told we could still see a bit of Bryce Canyon if we got the free road train from Ruby's as they have private access to part of the rim, which made our stay despite the Federal Shutdown. We would certainly stay again when we return to see Bryce open!

This was a very nice, clean and well-managed motel close to Bryce Canyon National Park. The price is a good value compared to the nearby competition. We definitely would stay at the Bryce Canyon Pines again.

The room was pretty average. There were no other choices to stay around Bryce. There's nothing around the actual hotel. I do have to give a great recommendation for the restaraunt though. The best patty-melt ever and great breakfast too.

We just finished a tour across southern Utah, with visits to 6 national parks, and I have to say that Bryce Canyon felt really stuck-in-the-1970's. Not exactly "retro" because it's actually the real thing...still there. The Pines is a solid option for clean, comfortable lodging. Nothing fancy, but a big king bed with lots of pillows and an updated bathroom made for a good stay. We were in a separate cabin - #132 - which turned out to be plumbed backwards. Maybe that's where "Pittsburgh_Pam" was (see review), but we finally figured out that "hot" was cold water and "cold" was hot, after wasting gallons of water in the desert! The front desk folks didn't tell us when we checked in, but when we reported it on the way out, they knew about it.

Black flies were a problem this time of year, so we asked for fly swatters at the front desk and waged our own war. We kilt them all!

I liked being a few miles outside the tourist trap part of the park. It was quiet at night, and we had a view of the meadow with all the horses grazing. Very western!

This is a quaint, almost a retro motel.

The bed is comfortable and the newly remodeled bathroom very nice. Both very important components!

Would certainly have given more stars, but for two problems.

The dead bolt did not work at all, so could not secure the room safely

Also, in the morning there was NO hot water. No mater how long we let the spigot run, it was cold. Luckily, we had taken showers the night before. So only had to wash faces with the very cold water. Taking a shower would have been impossible!

These problems may have been limited to just our cabin. At least when we reported them, they did not say they were aware of a water problem, However, we do not think that the dead bolt worked for some time
