My wife and I stayed here for two nights to explore Brian Head Ski hill and it was an overall terrible experience. We stayed in what they call a one bedroom villa. The lobby was dirty, the elevator was filthy, the room was extremely small, the ceiling fans nor bathroom vent had been cleaned in years, the baseboards were dirty, the room had no curtains only blinds with large spaces between them and the walls very thin. The first night kids were running up and down the halls and then at 9:30pm the hotel cleaning crew showed up to vacuum the hallway. Now the good news, on the first night the bartender in the bar and grill was very friendly turning down the loud music so we could watch and listen to the winter olympics and the meal was ok. The second night we tried the Steakhouse, the service was fine and the meal was wonderful but the room filled with a large party including children that completely took over the dinning area.

I spent 4 nights midweek at Cedar Breaks to go skiing. We had a Junior Suite. As part of their terrific midweek package, we got 4 free lift tickets. The lodge is located within walking distance of the Brian Head Resort and a free shuttle takes you wherever you may want to go in Brian Head. The room was clean and spacious and included a microwave and fridge along with plates, cups, glasses, silverware for four, as well as a toaster, a blender, bowls and other cooking implements. The bathroom was great and the tub had jets. The TV came with a DVD and VCR player. The staff was wonderful and always helpful. There is a small store in the lodge. Though it closes in the evenings, the front desk staff will always open it for you no matter what time. I had to go to the store at 4am to get some medicine and the staff opened the store for me without any problems. There are two jacuzzis, a pool, a sauna, steam room and fitness room located in the main building. All are free to use. You can rent free games and sleds from the front desk as well. Our stay at this lodge was fantastic and I definitely would stay there again.

We arrived on New Year's Eve and decided to stay...we were told that the only room left was a Handicap room...which we at first didn't have a problem with. When we got to the room, the remote for the t.v. didn't work and we had to call to have housekeeping come up and replace the batteries. What showed up was a teenager in the latest homeless fashions who had no idea how to open up the back of the remote to replace the batteries. He had to call for his supervisor to come in....he finally came and fixed the remote. This process took almost an hour, making us late for our reservations. When we got back after New Year's Eve festivities, we noticed then that the carpet had stains on it and that the sheets were stained. Being tired we put our food we brought for the morning in the fridge and went to bed. In the morning, we found out that the coffee was Farmer Brothers (ick) and that the fridge was broken....our food ruined...the shower was a walk in and when we took a shower we had to use most of the towels on the floor, because the bathroom flooded due to inadequate drainage. A very disappointing stay...Motel 6 would've been better and with rooms costing over 200 dollars a night...we were not happy and pretty disgusted...we will not ever be back nor recommend this "hotel" to anyone.

I stay at this resort every Thanksgiving with family and friends. I love the site, facilities, pool, and skiing. It is a wonderful family vacation spot. The only down side is the attitude of certain employees (manager Bret being the worst). Even though you rarely have to intermix with hotel staff, it seems odd that each year someone in my family is treated rudely by a staff member. Even though I never experienced it in the past, I was certainly initiated this year - I was billed $100 that I should not have been-and when making an inquiry by phone, I was hung up on by the manager. This has all been quite a disappointment especially since we love the lodge and ski resort.

We chose to stay for 1 week at the Cedar Breaks Lodge as part of a time share exchange. It was in good proximity of the 2 national parks we wanted to visit: Bryce and Zion. This was the very last week of September so the lodge was nice and quiet, not crowded at all. The area seems to be very ideal for skiing as we saw many ski lifts conveniently located close to the lodge.
The lodge itself has a main building with rooms upstairs and the restaurants below along with the exercise room, pool, jaccuzis etc... There are 2 adjacent buildings (building 2 and building 3 as they call them), one of each side of the lodge. We were in building 3 on the first floor. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of our villa. It was very spacious with a very comfortable living room, kitchenette, bathroom equipped with a jaccuzi tub and a very sizeable bedroom with 2 queen beds. The fireplaces in the living room and bedroom warmed the place very nicely as the weather was getting cool. Unlike previous comments by another review, the place did not look "old" or "dated". The kitchen cabinets seemed new and the bathroom looked very updated with nice slate floors. Everything was in working condition and clean (during our stay and as we were leaving, we saw many rooms being remodeled and were told they needed to complete the renovation by Thanksgiving). We did receive a courtesy call from the front desk checking on us upon our check-in. Our place was nicely cleaned by housekeeping in mid-week (typical for 1-week timeshare stay). The place was fully supplied with essentials such as dishwashing detergent, soap, shampoo, paper towels, toilet paper, tissue, extra towels etc.. Each building has an ice machine and laundry room on the 2nd floor. The cost for a wash a mere 75 cents and another 75 cents for drying.
We had dinner on our first night at the Cedar Breaks Cafe which was very affordable and had a reasonable no-frill menu. We did not try their more upscale steak house which opens only on the weekend.
A few things were not so convenient:
1) we had to walk out in the open from our building to the main lodge to use the swimming pool. Being in late September, the temperature in the evening was in the 40s or below which made the short walk a little chilly, especially when we were wet from the pool. Also the pool was fairly small and if there was a family with kids in it, no one else can use it. Considering that we were in the slow season, it was hard to find the pool free for our use.
2) also other travelers mentioned, groceries need to be planned ahead. The nearest groceries store was 15 miles away, downhill in the town of Parowan which closes at 7pm. We arrived in late afternoon on a Sunday and could not find any nearby groceries store still open. If you want cheaper groceries and better selection, then you can have to drive further to Cedar City which was another 15 miles away but the drive was not too long as you can go 75 MPH on the Hwy 15 from Parowan. Cedar has an abundance of fast foods, cheap gas, a Walmart superstore which opens 24 hours, an Albertson and also a state liquor store if you are in need of a decent bottle of wine.
3) Brian Head is truely very scenic and beautiful in very high altitude. It is ideal to stay there and use the ski slopes. However, we were there to visit the national parks and had many round trips up and down very steep and winding roads, especially the last 10 miles.
Overall, we were very happy with our stay at the lodge.

My husband and I took a trip around Utah in September 2009 and this was the last place we stayed before heading back to Vegas to fly home. It was the most expensive (by $3) but was definitely the nicest of all places we stayed. Unlike all of the other motels we stayed in, this place had underground parking, an elevator, a restaurant, a gift shop, pool, hot tubs, sauna, pool tables and a game room. For the price ($87) we were really impressed.

When I booked our room I decided on a Junior Villa with king size bed and somehow didn't realize that this particular room didn't come with a jetted tub. When we checked in to our room and went back down to ask why our fireplace wouldn't light (they hadn't lit the pilot), we mentioned that we thought the room would have a jetted tub. The desk attendant explained that the king room I booked was their ADA accessible room and that was why it had a walk in shower. He offered to switch us to a double queen room (same price) with a jetted tub and had someone come up right away to light the pilot on the fireplace in our new room. All in all, the staff were really, really friendly and accommodating.

I would definitely stay here again (in the off-season; we don't ski). In fact, if I go back to Utah, I plan to spend more than one night here so that I can explore the area a little more (Cedar Breaks was really nice!) and taken greater advantage of the amenities the hotel offers.

We stayed at Cedar Breaks Lodge as an exchange (get away) during the last week in July. We weren't sure what to anticipate with the resort, especially when I realized that there would be no A/C in our unit! However, Cedar Breaks was a great place for what we needed during this trip! The elevation provided cool nights and beautiful days. Yes, there were some parts of the complex that were showing wear... I've found that many ski resorts have this issue as well. But, the decor was fine to very nice. The unit was comfortable with more than I expected for the "mini-kitchen" and had a comfortable bed with a nice whirlpool tub in the bathroom. It was perfect for us. We were able to relax on site and read in our unit or just walk around. Additionally, we enjoyed massages at the day spa and had several fine meals at the restaurant and bar. Allow yourself some time to adjust to the higher elevation too! Because the area is remote... do purchase your groceries ahead of time. I'd also recommend visits to the National Parks in the area (get a yearly pass to support the parks and save money). ENJOY! Great location!
