The lodge was the perfect stopping point after leaving Capitol Reef National Park. We had a king room overlooking the lake and bird sanctuary. The room was spacious and comfortable. There is great detail put into every aspect of the property. The on site restaurant was incredible. Just like the property, great detail was put into each dish they served. Every bite was absolutely delicious. Boulder Mountain Lodge did not disappoint. I will find an excuse to return and stay longer than one night.

This ecologically-minded lodge is set on beautiful grounds. We stayed in a building with rooms overlooking a lovely field; another building has rooms that overlook the establishment's own lake and bird sanctuary and we often spent time in the great room there enjoying the view. The restaurant on the grounds in absolutely outstanding, with organic gourmet food that is absolutely fresh and well-prepared. And there you are, minutes away from spectacular hiking and scenery!

The lodge was peaceful, quiet and in the perfect spot for sightseeing in all directions. The rooms
are clean and neat and (2 queens) have lots of space for luggage and stuff. Our 2 rooms overlooked a nice bird viewing lake with ducks, geese with babies, coots, blackbirds, etc. It was
nice to sit and watch all the ducks and birds near the water. The weather in May was great and
made hiking really enjoyable. The Hells Backbone Grill is a great restaurant. The food is excellent and the ambiance was nice. Burr Trail is an "absolute must" to see. Red rock canyons,
streams, sheer cliffs, and huge valleys everywhere. The Anazasi Museum is also something
interesting to see. The history gives great insight to the ancients. We hope to go back again to
see more of the area.

We extended our stay the the Boulder Mountain Lodge to five nights. THAT tells you something about the place and the area! Our room was large, quiet, very well-equipped, and with a simply stunning view. The staff were very helpful and cheerful and, best of all, the Hell's Backbone Grill is in the grounds and an easy walk. If you haven't heard about Hell's Backbone Grill -- we hadn't until a bookstore clerk in Moab strongly recommended their cookbook -- see their website and read the reviews. Our only disappointment was the weather (snow storms in April) and the fact that we had to leave for other destinations. But we will certainly return -- hopefully soon -- and stay longer!

Stayed here four nights to do local photography and geology exploration. Staff was excellent. Room was roomy, quiet, and excellent. Location at corner of the Burr Trail and Utah Highway 12 is excellent. I love this place and will return.

Ah, a retreat in a small rural Utah town – this stands out from the other very basic motel accommodations in this area. We “splurged” on a queen-bed room, which was the cheapest option. It was well worth the tariff. It was beautifully appointed, large, and we had a lovely balcony overlooking a bird-filled pond. We wished we could have stayed two nights – but it was sold out – so alas, we stayed only one night. So, we advise you to book well in advance if you’d like to stay! The on-site Hell’s Backbone Grill offers great meals as well – with a BYOB option. The lodge is located right at the start of the Burr Trail road, which offers outstanding hiking opportunities and amazing views. We’d definitely come back in a flash if we could!

The only one “negative” issue was the haughty attitude conveyed by the check-in reception-woman. I’m not sure why she was so cold or why she conveyed such an unwelcoming tone – both verbally and non-verbally. But once we left her presence, we felt fully comfortable in this lovely property.

We loved Boulder Mountain Lodge. It is laid out in a ranch format with several buildings each of which has a few rooms. We were on the upper floor of one of the buildings in room 6. It had a great view of the bird sanctuary, very spacious, high ceilings, and very comfortable. Boulder is a beautiful base from which to explore this part of Utah. We loved the Hells Backbone restaurant as well. Will definitely return.
