La Posada Pintada has only been opened for a few months so gave my rating a little bit of leeway. Rooms are a good size, bathrooms beautifully tiled, comfortable bed, frig/sink/coffeemaker. Room has doorway to a large deck with a beautiful rock formation setting in the "backyard". Jennifer prepares tasty breakfasts which also can include yogurts & cereals. Twin Rocks Cafe is within walking distance & has a varied menu.
As for the work in progress - building materials still surround the property. Stairs to second level are steep & may be hard for some to handle. Hot water was not available one morning - need to run water for a long time which seems wasteful in this arid area. Room staff needs to check around to make sure coffee refills are available, filters, etc. & kleenex would be appreciated. Also needed is a small dresser or armoire otherwise one definitely is living out of a suitcase. Bluff is a wonderful town close to many of Utah's scenic areas. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again to see how the Davilas' long time dream has come to fruition.

Room Tip: We were in room 10 & were happy to be on the end of the building - seemed roomier. For those wi...

A strong effort has been made to bill La Posada Pintada as a "boutique hotel", but I'm afraid it doesn't make the grade. The owner is gracious and helpful, the breakfast she prepares is good, but the rooms are lacking.
The biggest shortcoming is storage. There is absolutely NO storage provided. Two beds, one desk, one couch, and the bar fridge. Fine, but what is needed is a dresser with some drawers and a closet. We were provided with a few hangers when requested, but could only hang them on the curtain rods.

My wife and I were on our way to a late September visit to the attractions around Moab, UT. We drove from our son's place in Albuquerque, stopped at Canyon De Chelly and then spent the night at La Posada Pintada. It's a fine little boutique hotel tucked away in a beautiful setting on the north end of town. With a clean, comfortable room, an attractive & understated decor and great view from the patio we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the tiling in the bathroom was quite attractive. Especially appreciated was the multi-jet, full body shower - a very nice touch. There's a good little restaurant within walking distance and the breakfast Jennifer served the next morning was a great way to start our day (the bread pudding was outstanding and nicely complemented by excellent coffee.) The service and travel tips were were first rate. We can't say enough good things about our stay. This was a real "find" and we recommend it highly,

Incredible project that this young couple has achieved-a hand-built adobe hotel! Where else can you find one? The rooms are spacious and beautiful w/local art, huge windows, wonderful beds, mini-refrigerator/sink/coffeemaker....shower is luxurious. Breakfast, which I had forgotten is included, was a treat. Plus, it's out by 7:30, which works for early birds who can't wait to explore the nearby canyons and parks. Large deck area off the rooms, facing rock formations in "backyard" is also spacious, w/chairs out for your enjoyment. Stairs to second floor rooms may be a bit steep for some, but not really a problem if luggage is not huge...and the views are better! Owners are local and can probably answer any questions you might pose. Updated travel materials and maps are available and helpful. All in all a fantastic, new, clean as a whistle, lovely place to stay.

Room Tip: Room number nine, at top of stairs, is a little exposed, due to location. Not much of a problem, but...

Spent two nights at this hotel. Queen size beds were wonderful. Loved the breakfast each morning prepared by the owner. The first morning we had a tasty egg breakfast. The second morning home made bread pudding. The breakfast area smelled so good as we sat down to eat. Travelled around this area of Utah visiting parks that were open since our original plan to visit the Grand Canyon was cancelled due to the Government shut down. Enjoyed this area of Utah very much

This hotel made a very welcome and excellent change from the typical 'chain' hotel and was a very good stop-over between The Grand Canyon and Moab. Although there are only a few rooms, the facilities are excellent and Jennifer made us very welcome from the moment we arrived. There was plenty of information available on where to go and what to see in the area, as well as where to eat in Bluff. After a quiet and restful night's sleep, breakfast was taken sitting out on the terrace and was one of the best we had enjoyed on our travels.
We have no hesitation in highly recommending La Posada Pintada.

We stayed one night travelling from Four Corners to Monument Valley.
The hotel is still evolving but the presentation and location speaks for itself. The rooms have balconies that look directly out on a great view, perfect for a glass or two at the end of the day.
Jennifer is friendly and spares no effort to make your stay most enjoyable.
Bluff can easily soak up some time exploring the Petroglyphs at Sand Island, the restored Mormon Village (make sure to see the video of the overland trip the expedition made), the Great Kiva site at the top of the hill immediately behind the town. A spectacular spot and a worthwhile stopover.
