“All you can eat”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

This place is very rustic, but clean. Be watchful because you will miss it if your going to fast. The food consisted of fried chicken, chicken and dumplings and sides wont be only any diet imaginable. The service was fast and the staff are very friendly. They are biker friendly and have plenty of space for large parties. You will dine family style along with other diners at your table, I liked that it made for interesting conversations. There is also a museum, but towards the end of the walk about I was disappointed to see that they advertise a confederate camp. That's east Texas for you. They still believe that the south will rise again, along with Gov. Perry.

“Pickett House is WONDERFUL”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

The homemade food here is perfectly seasoned and always hot and fresh. You are seated on picnic tables inside. Each family group is brought their own bowls to share. They refill the bowls as much as you want. Dessert is small but you can always ask for more... it's "all you can eat". The chicken and dumplings are to die for and the fried chicken is like mom used to make. We make the 80 mile drive as often as possible.

“Great Atmosphere!”

Good food and service. There's a museum next door that's worth going through. Worth the stop.

“I Don't Get It”
Reviewed April 17, 2012

I heard raves about this place from a co-worker and was really excited to try it. Boy was I disappointed! We drove in from Spring, TX just to try this place and to tour the little village. The food was okay, but nothing special. It is all you can eat, but the portion sizes they serve are really small. I was really looking forward to the cobbler. I almost laughed out loud when they brought me a bowl not much bigger than a thimble! The "gift shop" just has a lot of old, dusty merchandise and the "village" just consists of a bunch of old buildings, no shops that you can actually shop in. My husband and I hit a flea market on the way home and had a better time there. Unless you live really close by, save your time and gas money for something better.
