“This is the river from the Shiner Bock commercial!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

This is the river from the Shiner Bock commercial! The one that says, "you get just as many Tuesdays as Saturdays," with the guy on the rope swing doing a flip into the water.

Place is beautiful and very well kept. Great place for a relaxing afternoon in nice weather.

“Great place for a family picnic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

This was our first time so I had no idea what to expect. It's a pretty big park with trails, fields and a playground. You can't even see the swimming hole until you pay the fee to get in, it's like $8 per adult, $4 per kid (the park itself is free). We arrived at noon and were told we couldn't go to the swim hole until 2:30 b/c they were at capacity already (they opened at 10). Sure it was a bit inconvenient, but the swim hole is pretty small so I can see why they put a limit on the number of people who can come in. We grabbed some lunch and came back right before 2 and waited at the entrance to the swim hole to get in at 2:30. Once we were in, it was beautiful! There's a nice flat grassy area where you could set up your towels or picnic blanket. A good mix of sun & shade on the grassy area. There are a few picnic tables as well. The water is definitely cool and refreshing and the tree swings were a ton of fun. Definitely wear some water shoes though!

“Loving this river, especially after a hot summer day! :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

Ohhh, I loved this place!

We were a bit late as we arrived there (7 p.m.) but that didn't stuck us to go in and check out the place!

The office wasn't open but the gate was held open so we could go in and walk in the park as it was open to the public.

As there were no guard around the "pool", we quickly changed our clothes and jumped into the water! Why not! We won't, for sure, be coming here another time (from Finland?)! Or..you can neeeveeeer know...

The place was amazing!! The peace.. the nature.. the cattle on the other side of the river.. No one around.. Just the two of us swimming calm around in the pool.. Relaxing and looking up to the blue sky, through the trees' green leaves.. (Though a little bit afraid of the alligators =D )

After we had been swimming, the owner came calm to us and told that the place had closed for an hour ago, but he let us swim (didn't want to run after us...). That was nice! At the gate he - after having been so incredibly friendly towards us - furthermore, asked us if we wanted to come there again tomorrow! "Hmmmm...why not", we answered.. And got free passes for the next day! Ohhh, what a service! (Unfortunately we didn't have time to go there again the next day because of our tight schedule, toooo baaad! :(( )

“Very nice park (but swimming closed after Labor Day weekend)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

It's a cute park. The swimming hole was closed (apparently closed after Labor Day). We jumped in anyway, along with a few other people who were already there. The water, despite an ongoing drought, was about 7 feet deep and refreshing and cool. It's picturesque. The rest of the park has some nice volleyball, basketball and soccer facilities, as well as some simple trails that would probably be good for any easy/moderate walkers or bikers.

“Beautiful Treasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

Blue Hole has been one of the best swimming holes in Texas since before there was a Texas. The city of Wimberley was able to purchase the property and rather than commercial development, the area is now a beautiful family park. Go with the family to swim or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. Visit http://www.friendsofbluehole.org for a preview.
