“OK spot; great for Wimberly”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

It is a long way from other alternatives, so our perspective may have colored our opinion- it is a very cute swimming hole. The landscaping is new and the water appears to be nice and clean - it flows through which helps. We did not swim - we just visited at the end of a nice day in Wimberly. The parking is fairly limited in the lot itself, but overflow parking exists on the road leading to the hole. It is spring fed and has nice water flowing through, along with two nice rope swings.

We walked through and appreciated the limestone walkways and nice landscaping, as well as the shade! It looks like a great place to spend a hot day. The cost is $8, which we avoided by showing up with only 15 minutes left until closing, but that is also the price to visit recreational areas in some of the highland lakes access areas, so I guess it is not so bad.

Given the dearth of alternatives in the area, it is a very nice spot to visit.

“Refreshing afternoon at Blue Hole”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2012

We arrived at Blue Hole in the afternoon and parking was limited, so we parked the car outside the gate. As we were getting our things out of the car, a Blue Hole employee drove up in a gator and offered us a ride to the entrance. How nice! We were slightly put off by having to pay the $8 per person to get into the swimming area, but after being there for only a few short hours we realized it was totally worth it! The water was cool and refreshing since it is spring-fed and shaded by the ancient cypress trees surrounding it. They have three platforms where you can enter the water by ladders or steps, and two rope swings that looked really fun. There was a good grassy area where families had set up chairs and blankets and were picnicking. Some sunny and shady spots. It really did feel like we were stepping back in time.

GREAT place!

“Great little swim hole in texas!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2011

This place is a great little gem. It has be completely renovated and now has facilities and walking trail. The area for swimming is small but it has two great very safe rope swings for the kids and well for the big kids in all of us! The water is spring fed so its a bit chilly but very clean. Also there is plenty of shade both over the water and in the grassy area. Over all its a great place to hang out but beware its a bit pricey ie 7 dollars per adult. But if you don't mind paying to get in then you will have a great day at a wonderful Texas swimming hole!
