I have eaten at the Leaning Pear many times. The owner (Matthew) is CIA (Culinary Institute of America) trained and together with his wife, Rachel, they have created a nice, comfortable restaurant with reliable quality food. Everything is fresh, delicious and nicely presented. Soup, salad, sandwiches, dessert, ice tea -- it's all good and nothing about it can be described as "ho hum." The crab cakes (when offered) are excellent, as are other daily specials (meatloaf also very good). It is a "must stop" when visiting Wimberley.

Fresh, gourmet, a hill country classic!... There IS a reason they are expanding in a new restaurant they are building next door!
Rachel and Matthew have AlWAYS had consistently good service, great food that you can feel good about eating!

Very good food with excellent service. Nice wine list. The restaurant is nestled under beautiful trees. A bit tricky to find.

We have always relied on tripadvisor, but this time we got it wrong.
We just ate here and we were very disappointed.
We ordered the "duo" - a cup of soup and half a cuban sandwich. The soups were nothing special and the bread of our sandwiches were burnt. Much worse was the fact that we were being charged for a whole sandwich. Our server made it sound like we were lying about ordering half but we insisted which made her talk to her supervisor.
Food is bland. HEB makes bigger and better sandwiches and soups for a lot less $!
Stay away! Definitely a tourist trap!

The Leaning Pear is arguably the best weekday lunch and weekend dinner place in Wimberley. Always popular and now building a whole new facility overlooking Cypress Creek, the staff is friendly and efficient. The food is great using as much local and natural produce and meat as possible. Parking can be a challenge during construction but the locals are happy to wait a few minutes. Enjoy the shady deck especially if, like Helen and I, you are a dog person.
