Ranked #7 of 58 Restaurants in Willis
Price range: $8 - $17
Description: Poppy's Seafood Grille opened in October 2012 by owners Larry and Chris Reichert, bringing cajun style cuisine with a Texas flair to the Willis area. With the desire for the customer to have an experience and not just a meal, they created a warm friendly atmosphere using a nautical theme with old wood and tin to reflect the Texas Gulf Coast. A friendly staff serves our generous portions of seafood classics, such as our fried catfish and shrimp, that are prepared and cooked per order. Poppy's own unique appetizers, "Bouchee Rolls" and Corn-eatas, keep customers coming back for more.

Went with mom and stepdad. As you know from previous posts, we all like different thins and my mom isn't impressed. Ever. We all like this place, so score big right there. It's a short list of places we agree on. The boudin rolls were the best appetizer I've had in a long time. Gumbo was had by all and enjoyed by all. Even my mom was impressed. The old lady was actually smiling. Mine was seafood, of course, and there was no shortage of sea life. Can say the same for the shrimp po' boy. Sometimes a restaurant will act like the Gulf of Mexico is running out of shrimp and you get very few my po' boy was full of shrimp and the bread was piping fresh - very impressive. Portions were huge for the price, as I could hardly make a dent - ate less than half. Service was a bit slow, but it was not our waitress - it was the kitchen. The waitstaff was more than friendly and very personable. I will be going back to try new things - I was too stuffed to eat anything else on the menu!

This place is relatively good, for being in Willis, Texas. We dont have a lot of options out here, unfortunately. But its pretty good!

We were at a Timeshare and asked for a good place for seafood. She said try Poppy's.
The place was busy and the parking lot full. The seafood excellent. There are a lot of selections to chose from. Burgers, salads, chicken, and of course seafood. It is worth the visit.

Good food service and atmosphere for lunch. Understand live music on certain nights of the week. Will be back for more.
