We weren't allowed to go up past the first landing, but the history and decor was amazing! From the tile floors, light fixtures, curved stairway to the old elevator and the local *ghost* stories , we thoroughly enjoyed going inside here!

I wanted to have a quick sushi in their sushi bar for lunch. It was the worst sushi I've ever served with. I refused to eat it after the first bite and asked for the bill. They charged the whole bill. If the same applies to whole operation stay away from this property...

The new owner gutted and rennovated the place, and most of the hotel has been turned into posh shopping and office space, but they've got 6 rooms available for a minimum of 2 nights. We stayed the weekend for $215, and got a great room with a beautiful view of the old courthouse. The train rumbling by at 4am was unwelcome though. I would still love to stay again, we had a fabulous time.

Just FYI, this hotel is now closed due to water damage, and is condemned. It will not be re-opening.

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times over the past 2 years, under different ownership. The building and the atmosphere are amazing, and the most recent set of owners has done a wonderful job renovating the hotel and creating great service. That being said, every single time I've stayed there, the elevator has stopped functioning, which requires carrying of luggage up multiple flights of stairs with no help from any hotel employees (there is usually only one person at the front desk). During our first stay, my husband and I were given ONE bath towel for 3 nights! We also had friends staying in another room and we all had to request more than 1 towel, and additional toilet paper - almost as thought it were a luxury. Still, the most recent set of owners put a lot of work and money into the hotel, and it is a shame the hotel was closed just when it was getting good!
