ICE COLD BIG-O beers, delcious fried food and home cooking! I want to go back right now! The patio is great for family fun or meeting up with friends! A must visit whenever we visit Waco and for reliving old times at Baylor! Love it!

“Amazing Food and Best Chicken Fried Steak!”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Our Baylor University freshman daughter said we had "to try the best chicken fried steak ever!" So, she directed us to the visually unassuming restaurant known as George's. I was filled with apprehension as we searched a two-block area for parking. Entering, we were greeted by the world's friendliest staff. The main dining room was packed! Rather than force us to wait, we were quickly escorted to anotther room. Our daughter told us we had to try the fried pickle chips before ordering the chicken fried steaks. She was right--the chips and dip were great, as were the fresh rolls. The chicken fried steak was huge, light and not greasy at all. The quality beef and crunchy coating were the perfect match. The gravy and garlic mashed potatoes were also perfect! The walls are adorned in Baylor U photos and items. Green and gold are everwhere. George's offers amazing food and great fun. Don't pass by Waco, TX without stopping by, but make sure you are hungry!!!

“Best Burger in Town”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

We recently visited George's Restaurant in Waco because we wanted a really good burger and we were not disappointed. We almost changed our minds when we saw that it was a 1/2 pound burger. We didn't think we could eat that much. The burger was so delicious that we ate every bite. It was Angus beef and juicy and delicious. I think being a double patty made it easier to cook it perfectly. My husband's was well done and mine was medium. The vegetables on the burger were crisp and fresh. We shared one order of fries with no salt. They came fresh and hot. Although it was at lunch time and the restaurant was very busy, we received our food quickly. We usually get the fabulous chicken fried steak but just wanted burgers and we were definitely not disappointed. Everyday of the week, George's has a lunch special for $5.99. On Monday it was fried chicken and it looked delicious however, we loved our burgers. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Sometimes it is difficult to find some local restaurants open on Monday but this one is open for business. The seating at George's in Waco seems a little more crowded than the George's in Hewitt but we didn't mind.

“high schooley”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

This is not actually a restaurant, it's a test. If you eat here and think it's terrific, you flunked and are therefore a hick. The bun on my chicken sandwich was one of those pasty white flour deals that sticks together if you pinch it, the chicken meat had cartilage on it and it was way over salted and greasy.

“Don't Shoot the Big "O"”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Every college town has a place like George's. And a place like this that serves good burgers, schooners of beer they call the Big "O", and is fairly close to the campus is going to be big-time popular. Went with relatives for a graduation celebration of congratulatory rounds of BIG "O"s. There was definitely some animal house vibes there with new grads trying to shoot BIG "O"s, but only succeeding after anointing themselves in beer. Fun place, good food, lively atmosphere, would definitely come again.
