When I visited here there were a lot of construction work on the road immediately round it and maybe this made it feel a bit more badly placed than it actually is, but in terms of location this place doesn’t feel great from the outside. It is based by the river which seemed quite nice but it is also across the man road, so there was constant traffic noise and the car park and external of the place seemed pretty scruffy. Inside it is colorful in the way a theme restaurant is, t-shirts for sale, alligator heads on shelves stuff like that. It has a charm in that regard although it is a rather tacky charm.
The food is actually pretty decent – better than I expected. The deep fried stuff of course just tastes like batter but a lot of the other dishes had a bit more to them and were pretty tasty and filling; most of the mains seemed large and you can probably skip starters unless you are very hungry.
Staff are friendly and helpful although they seemed to come round asking if everything was OK a bit too many times, checking is people wanted another drink long before the current one was finished – they could have scaled that back a little but generally it was good.
Shame about the location, but the food and service was better than the décor suggested, although still not much to get thrilled about.
