“Everything A Burger Joint Should Be”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

Traveling through the area and was craving a greasy burger with fries. This place is everything a little burger joint should be. Great homemade burgers, good fries and even better malts! I'd be in big trouble if I lived closer to Health Camp. It's reasonably priced as well and the staff is very friendly. It's a tad bit small inside so I'm sure it gets packed. This will be my only stop when traveling through Waco!

“Great old time burger joint”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

An old time 50's burger joint with terrific meat to bun ratio. The shakes are terrific, my son had the Oreo shake and he said it was better than Steak n' Shakes (my favorite). The menu is limited burger, chicken sandwich, etc. 100% Angus beef burgers, with fresh toppings. The tables and chairs are dated, if you are large the chairs are a better option than the booths. The Onion Rings were crisp and tasty. If you survive the circle, it is a great place to eat.

“Great Food In Waco”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

Loved Health Camp as a law student at Baylor. Was glad to get to introduce my kids to one of my favorite burger joints on a recent trip through Waco. What can I say? Great food, kind of a throwback to the way burgers should be -- simple and delicious. Can't beat it. As an added bonus, you get to drive on the roundabout! If in Waco, definitely worth stopping in.

“Take a break and chill, literally chill with a icy cold, thick milkshake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

I-35 Austin to Dallas, teeth gritting fun, avoiding pin ball battles with trunks of every shape, size and mechanical condition. Take a break and chill, literally chill with a icy cold, thick milkshake at Health Camp.

Asked for best seller shake, got Peanut Butter Chocolate. Great flavor, but really...whole peanuts? At least grind them a bit so they fit thru a straw.

Lot's of unique flavor combos, need a return trip to sample the 2nd best. Didn't sample the burgers, maybe next time.

“A Wonderfully Delightful Dive!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

Having survived the roundabout (these still exist?!) in Waco, you are greeted by a hamburger joint that was started in 1948 and looks like it.

I had seen signs for Health Camp for years and read articles, but had never visited.

I was greeted by a place that looked right out of "American Graffiti" and it was busy, so it must be good. Several cops were there and I talked to one officer who had been coming there for 35 years.

I ordered the handmade (never frozen) cheese burger with thick sliced bacon and mushrooms, with a side of sweet tea and thick ol' onion rings.

Delightfully messy and extraordinarily tasty! Definitely worth the stop,
