“Maybe not healthy, but good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2012

There is an intersection at Waco known as The Circle, there are two restaurants that appear to have been there forever which sit side by side, the Health Camp and the Elite

The Health Camp ls an old style burger joint and has a drive in architecture, but there is indoor dining. The burgers are greasy and great. Fries are greasy and great. There are an unusual number of flavors for shakes and malts (e.g. mocha, peanut butter, butterscotch, chocolate, vanilla and others. In my opinion, the malt here is better than the Dairy Palace in Canton. Also large number of custard ice cream flavors. Itsa fun place to eat. If you want clean, shiny, gleaming surroundings, this is not your place. If you want fun, vintage old style drive in like Mom and Dad went to after the game, and then stop by and leave your diet outside the door.

“Health Camp is Waco most famous burger joint!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

So I've been going to this locally owned burger place since the 1980's. Its not by today's standards "Healthy" but that's not the point, the burgers are off the hook, another cool thing about this place is its charm. Step into this small diner and you'll swear you've been transported back to the 50's.

The burgers/shakes are the best you'll have. I love them, flat out! If you in Waco this is worth a stop. Save up your calories and treat yourself to a good old fashion Burger.

Just to the east side of I-35 exit 333A.

“Famous Waco mainstay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

When visiting Waco, you must stop by Health Camp. The name speaks either to an era in which greasy burgers and fries were considered "healthy" or they are enjoying the irony of their name. Of course it is fitting to stick with this since irony is the purview of the younger generation. The food is good (again greasy) and the ambiance leaves a little something to be desired - but sometimes one is in the right mood for this. Check it out!

“name is fun”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

It was dirty. Many times they are out of what I want or the ice cream machine is down. it is a Dairy Queen in food quality. Nothing to write home about. it is a Waco staple, so go once for the experience and make up your own mind. I guess it is not "Bad" just not worth the hype. I would rather go to baskin Robbins and Five Guys to get my junk food fix.

“Best.Burger.Ever.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2012 via mobile

In addition to having the best burgers and fries in Texas, just for good measure, these folks throw in some serious history: Elvis ate here!

While you are probably not worthy, go anyway. And a hella good shake to top things off will really have you convinced you are living right!
