Description: The hotel has recently opened the only upscale restaurant in the Van Horn. It is open to the public and offers excellent food and service!

Excellent menu. We happened to enter the restaurant for dinner at the same time as about six other parties. The result was an hour wait. If you're in a hurry, go back out to the Interstate exits for alternatives.

Limited variety and the 2 dishes I wanted were not available.
I bit over priced for the overall quality and service.
The service was extremely slow and the we were one of 3 tables.
But recommend it since Van Horn is in the middle of nowhere and it was convenient with kids

We stayed at the hotel attached to the restaurant. We were traveling with our dog so this was the only place we had stopped at traveling across the country that we could enjoy a meal in the patio area and have our dog with us. The server was very nice and the food was great. The couryard provided a relaxing atmosphere. Very nice find in a small town.

We opted to eat in the dining room instead of outdoors, as I wanted to be in the AC, though the patio did look lovely. Our food was good, though nothing super special. Our waitress seemed like she might have been new, as she seemed a bit unsure when we asked questions, but did a good job overall. It was convenient to be able to get a good meal at the hotel instead of having to drive around to find a place, especially on a holiday weekend.

Who expected to find the equivalent of a five-star restaurant in sleepy West Texas? The patio of the historic restored El Capitan was a gorgeous place to dine. All tables had fresh flowers and white linen cloths; the tables surrounded a fountain. All this provided a great atmosphere. Then the food—divine! We had the spinach salad with mandarin oranges, feta cheese, walnuts, and the like. Another of us had the pistachio encrusted steak--the absolute best! Debbie, our server, was friendly, efficient, and made great suggestions. Desserts are homemade and vary by the day. We had the blueberry tart. Servings are ample--two people easily could split a serving of the salad and the entree. Some guests who were staying at the hotel said it was great, too, although we lodged elsewhere. After a day on the road this restaurant is a welcome respite for weary travelers.
