Loved to go during off season. The weather was great. The animals were more active. No crowds. This is a beautiful zoo just to walk around and enjoy.

Caldwell Zoo is a well kept zoo in Tyler, Texas. They have a nice selection of animal exhibits. It is not so large that the younger kids get worn out. It makes a nice family/friends/children groups outing.

“Kids loved the Zoo.”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

We visited the Zoo early on Saturday morning and there was alot of staff cleaning and feeding the animals. It's a smaller zoo, but very nice. Kids loved seeing the white tiger and the feeding the ducks. The Zoo has open habitats for the majority of the animals and it looks like they're all together until you look closly. I would reccomend going early, we got to see alot of the animals eating and they were very active even in the cold. You definetely want to get a map. It's not just a simple path around zoo. The Penquin are was the only area I could say anything negative about (It stunk). The moisture and fish smell was pretty bad, but this is the same at every zoo we've been to. The reptile area was a circular room that you could walk around and see the individual snake, spiders and frogs. There were quite big feel for such a small zoo. There's a cafe by the elephants and giraffe that the kids enjoyed an a big sand playground with an old 49-50 model ford truck and tractor the kids played in. The petting area was just goats but the kids loved it as well

“Will Go Back”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

Had a great time. Most of the exhibits are very well done. A few were hard for my two year old to see because the hedges were to high. The african exhibit was incredible. You can sit and eat your lunch while the giraffes watch you.
