The Caldwell Zoo is great. It is very spacious, scenic, and relaxing. The parking is never a problem if you go at an off time. There were never any lines either.

It's a smaller zoo and can be done thoroughly in one day. It had most of the big animals that we all look forward to seeing. The exhibits were well cared for.

We have been here twice and enjoyed it both times. We need to come back in the fall or spring when it's not so hot. The Texas summer heat makes the animals just lay around. It's sometimes hard to see them. Very clean zoo with great layout.

The Caldwell Zoo is a great midsized zoo. You can easily tour the entire zoo in a couple of hours, 3 to really take your time. We only had one hour, so it was a bit of a race to see the whole thing – but we managed it. There is small tropical bird section with some absolutely gorgeous Macaws and Scarlet Ibis – amazing red color. There is also a free-flight aviary with parakeets and cockatiels. You can buy some sticks of bird food to entice them to get close for a treat. The other usual zoo residents were also present – and some penguins, too! There is a kid zone, too. A small petting area with some goats and a large sandy area with some tunnels.

Enclosures were well maintained and most of them were a reasonable size for their inhabitants. The walkways were very clean, nice and level, and very wide – lots of space for lots of people on busy days. The walkways do a nice winding tour through the zoo, so you can just wander the paths and you will see everything there is to see. It was very hot when we were there, 100+, and there are lots of shady spots to get out of the sun. There are picnic areas, a cafe, a gift shop and you can even rent strollers and wheelchairs. Restrooms are well spaced throughout the zoo. There were lots of activities and presentations throughout the day. Parking is free and admission is very reasonable – under $10 for an adult!
