“So neat we came back again”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

We just happened upon this place and we are so glad we did. We brought our daughter & she knew the majority of the animals. The gift shop has amazing prices. The people were so nice. We liked it so much my daughter wanted to come back again so we went again the very next week. The playground is also great! The best part is it is free. They also do free birthday parties!!!

“Great collection! Fantastic playground! Free!!!”
Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

One of the best private collections of animals I've seen! General store was great, small gift shop sold old time candy. Kids loved it. The outdoor area has three play areas, old fire truck, caboose and tractor to climb on. Covered, too, so we played on a rainy day. Will go back.

“Great place to take the kids... it's FREE”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

This is a great little museum to take the kids. Can't beat the price...free. They do accept donations. My children love seeing all the different animals from around the world. There is a fabulous FENCED playground outside. We love this park. You can book birthday parties here too. The facilities are well kept and the staff is friendly too.

“Reasonably priced, interesting Gift Shop!”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

As I'm sure you have read in all of the other reviews that I just read, the museum is free. It's full of taxidermied animals, which you will find either enthralling or creepy, but this is East Texas so most people will really dig it. My kids didn't believe that they were real animals! The old country store section of the museum really takes you back in time. The playground, also free and well reviewed below is a lot of fun especially for the elementary school set. But the reason I wrote this review is the part of the museum that I typically pass up. Most museum gift shops are full of the same old overpriced souvenir crud that fills up airport newsstands. This gift shop is different in both regards. 1) the prices are actually fair! I assume this is because the museum is something of a gift back to the community from the very weathy owners of a major supermarket chain, and also being a supermarket, they probably don't pay too much for the merchandise, but they could totally double their prices and still not approach prices at the Caldwell Zoo (another non-profit) just down the road. Also, they have really cool items! Old fashioned "penny" candy for a nickel. (ok, so not exactly a penny, but at today's prices, it may as well be.) pecan divinity, lollypops, bottled coke, just stuff that you don't see everyday anymore. It's absolutely worth a visit if you're in Tyler. And besides, if you don't see something you want to buy, this part of the museum is free too!

“It's Free and the Kids Love It.”
Reviewed December 14, 2013

I will at times just take my son and daughter here for Saturday lunch. They love to see the museum and play outdoors on the playground, especially the fir truck. It's free and the kids love it.
