“NEVER AGAIN!!”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

My husband and I were traveling and due to the ice and sleet we had to stop. We checked in and went to our room which happened to be at the very end of the parking lot. We get to the door and the room key DOESN'T WORK! My husband goes back to the office while I wait in the freezing cold with our bags. When we step in the room it had a MILDEW SMELL, then I sit on the bed and notice burns on the comforter in our non- smoking room.=/ It gets worse! I go to the restroom and notice that the toliet has a beige top and white bottom...THE TANK IS HALF OPEN on back of TOLIET..I get to the sink to wash my hands and there is a dead spider beside the bar of soap. I phone the manager and ask if he could discount my $130.00 room (jaccuzzi tub room)and he said he had already given us a discount and there was NOTHING ELSE he could do.

We found this place to very good, location we would have liked it to have been closer to where going, but will stay there again if in the area. This trip was to go to Canton which was only about 30 miles, which was OK given the room was so nice, & we had a good nights stay, 2 nights.

Room Tip: Don't understand this.? No tip to give it was very good room, we have stayed place that cost a l...

I really can't complain too much about this motel since we got a great rate but there are some things that need improvement. The outside of this motel is like a Swiss Chalet which is inviting. Some nice things have been added but many more are needed. On check in, they had us down for one night when we had reservations for two. The desk girl fixed it but we had to stand and wait while she corrected it. Our room was large with a couch, king bed, chair and ottoman, flat screen TV, microwave, refrigerator and whirlpool tub. The room was clean except for the upholstered furnishings which were stained and lots of dust on the top of the hair dryer. The bed was comfortable. There wasn't a sweep on the bottom of the door so we had several bugs in our room. There were only 2 hangers and the clip was broken on one of them. The towels were off color and rough. Take your own Kleenex and shampoo because there is not any provided. The second night, the maid left us with only one bar of soap. It would have been fine if she had just left the two from the previous nigh. Breakfast was very limited in offerings and space. It consisted of 3 cereals, packaged honey buns, coffee and milk. The internet worked well. I have to say, it was one of the quietest motels I have stayed in, in a long time.

Though the room was completely clean and the nice white sheets and comforter were spotless, the room's sofa and bench were extremely stained and looked unsanitary. Did not want to remove shoes to walk on carpet. Bathroom door was rotted at bottom and mildew was above shower head. Entire hotel was furnished with cheap, stained, old furniture that looked to have been found at garage sales; nothing matched. Ceiling had heavy 1960's spackle. First microwave did not work but staff replaced it promptly. No coffee pot in rooms. Continental breakfast was only cold cereal and extremely weak coffee. The king size four poster bed was very comfy, AC was cold, big screen TV was good, and staff was friendly. For a few dollars more, there were new hotels across the street.

Not the newest decor, and sort of dark and gloomy but I didn't mind since it was evening anyway. Nice area, mostly hotels but quiet. HUGE ROOMS. Flat screen TVs. Great value! If you don't want to spend a ton of money and want a spacious room that is clean stay here.

Room Tip: We had a King bed, it had a sitting area and a separate small area for the bathroom, plus a chair an...

Pros: Fairly good location (right on the north side of the loop), The Stratford House Inns have brick walls between the rooms thus I have never heard people in the rooms next to mine, black out curtains, excellent a/c units, clean and comfortable beds, jacuzzi tubs, free continental breakfast, friendly owner (always a smile), microwave and refrigerator in room, and reasonable rates.

Cons: expect basic necessities (ie: one bar of soap, one cup, no coffee maker, no plush towels, etc.)

Final: The place is consistent, and fair priced. Don't expect a Hilton, and yes, I will stay here again.
