Lovely Italian Bistro on The Woodlands Waterway. Try the Mushroom Ravioli.
Great service and delicious food. Reasonable especially for lunch.

“If You Can Get Past The Filth -- Great Food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2007

We ate here for a late lunch. The ambiance is very romantic with Turkish carpets, archways, dark wood and ambient lighting. We sat outside on the balcony overlooking the canal. Between the canal view and ambiance of the restaurant we found ourselves reminiscing about our trip to Venice while we waited for our food.

The menu is classic Italian American with lasagna and such. Looking for lighter fare, we decided to order three appetizers and share. The calamari was a bit disappointing. The breading was too heavy and the mustard sauce was poorly balanced – far too much vinegar. The Carpaccio plate was huge! Paper thin beef with olive oil, shaved Parmesan cheese, capers and field greens; this was defiantly a pleaser. This could have been a light lunch in itself. The final choice we made was certainly the best. The Mushroom Bruschetta was made with Portabella mushrooms, Fontana Cheese, and Proscuitto piled on top crispy bread and broiled to perfection. Heavenly.

The service was leisurely and friendly.

My gripe with this restaurant is the level of clean. Germophobes beware! When we walked into the restaurant we were instantly accosted by the smell. No, it wasn't food cooking, it smelled like the inside of a trashcan. Food littered the carpets and a sticky goop was building up on the hardwood. In places food was spattered on the walls. When the waitress brought out our drinks, her tray looked as if it hadn't seen a dishwasher in a month. I had to ask for a clean plate and silverware.

The food was great and the filth unappetizing. I tried not to wonder how dirty the kitchen was. I would eat there again only if they clean the place up.

I would have given this restaurant a 4-5 star rating if it wasn't so disgustingly dirty.
