“And I live around the corner...”
Reviewed March 7, 2012

I didn't stay long enough to order. I can only be ignored so long. I will never go back...and I live around the corner...walking distance from the store.

“Fine dining experience”

Excellent food served by professional waitstaff in an upscale environment. Of course it is a little pricey.

“I am Italian, are you?”
Reviewed January 6, 2012

I dont know why I do this to myself but for the last 20 years I have occasionally be looking for a good Italian restaurant with much dissappointment; even though I am Italian and the best kitchen is waiting for me at home. What makes the Italain cuisine [cucina] is not necesseraly the recipes but the raw ingredients. A chef must buy the best avaialble products within the season that they grow.
Unfortunately that is not the case for the majority of restaurants that claim to serve Italian food. You end up with dishes that every Italian restaurant serves in most of this venues. Amerigo is one of them. While the location of the restaurant is not necesseraly in a great part of the city, the interiors are warm and very pleasent. The decor makes you feel comfortable and the myriad of private rooms excellent for private gatherings. The food though is boring and more American-Italian than Italian. We also found it to be extremely expensive for what they serve. The service is efficient but impersonable, not that I want to flirt with the servers but some intuitive conversation besides taking your order and delivering the dishes would be nice. I wish i could tell you that I found one single dish that was unique to this restaurant, I can not.
