This was our first time at Pit Master BBQ. The food was excellent. We ordered a large combination plate and shared. The meat was tender and delicious. Our server was quick with refills. For dessert, we ordered blackberry cobbler and shared. It was okay. Some of it was kind of soggy. We paid an extra DOLLAR for a slice of jalapeño bread. If I had know it was just a slice and it was really not that special, I wouldn't have ordered it. At a dollar per slice, heck, they could probably make 30 bucks on a loaf of bread. The jalapeño bread was a mistake. It wasn't bad. It was like any other bread- just over priced.

I didn't order the salad bar. I looked at it before ordering. There was limited selection and the food didn't look fresh.

I'm glad the restaurant is being cleaned. However, we arrived during prime lunch hours and walked in to a strong smell of Pine Sol and pickles. The lobby floor was being mopped. We chose to sit outside because frankly, the smell inside was just too strong.

The staff was very friendly. I enjoyed myself. We had a great meal and left there feeling good!

Don't know how this restaurant manages to vote itself into local Best Of lists with Corkscrew BBQ around the corner. Their food is only average and they have been getting bad press lately for obvious underhanded attempts to subdue their superior bbq foodtruck/trailer competition with petty county law complaints about operating regulations that have nothing to do with safety or quality of food product and service. I won't return in this lifetime.

This is a review of (2) tales as there are (2) locations about 1 mile apart from each other. At the Sawdust location (343 Sawdust) -We had nothing but disappointment as we have tried to eat at this restaurant on (3) different occassions of which we have left disappointed not with their service hours but with just their overall attitude that has just left us with the impression that they dont value their customers. We have tried to catch this place with a group of 5 or 6 on different dates between the 8pm and 9pm hour. Each time upon stepping in the door we have been barked at as to whether we are taking our food to go. When we say no, we were dining inside, we are told that they are closed. This has happened again on 3 different occassions before their posted closing time on the door. Now the location on 842 Rayford, is the complete opposite. As a matter of fact we have left the Sawdust location (being told they were closed) to walk in to the Rayford location only to find the completely different customer service, never being declined service. We now only go to the location on Rayford Road.

This little slice of Texas has a Big Texas taste and Texas sized servings so bring your appetite. The pulled, chopped pork was succulent and perfect flavor. The onion rings were plentiful (enough for 2 to share), hot and crispy. The menu has a few surprises so you'll want to go back and try some. The best part was we went thinking we'd meet a 'real Texan or two' and our waiter was from Wales! A rugby player who decided to stay. Overall a winner, don't miss this if you like barbeque.
