“Brisket Tacos and Mambo Taxi Margaritas... yum!”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

The Brisket tacos here are amazing and the mambo taxi margaritas should have a limit! The chips and salsa are great - but we've tried both kinds of queso and well, they suck. Kind of surprising for tex-mex. The tacos al carbon are also delicious, but the brisket tacos are definitely my favorite! Mi Cocina will cover your valet parking if you give them your receipt - they take the $5 off your bill - it's a nice perk since parking can be frustrating.

“Mexican Food is Subjective, but - meh!”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Very attractive restaurant, great location, and the staff last night was fabulous! However.... common sense dictates that when the restaurant is about 20% full at 7pm on Valentines night, there might be a problem. After getting turned away from Landry's, Brio's and PF Chang's, we ducked in to find Mi Cocina with plenty of open tables. Nothing was really good, nothing was really bad - with the exception of the queso (which was laughably bad.)

All is not lost - but they do need to really "step up" the food taste and quality. Too many good restaurants in The Woodlands to go back. I wish them well!

“Wonderful surroundings and great food”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

I was very impressed with the food as well as the surroundings. The service was a little slow but to their defense, they were quite busy.

“Food was okay - Slow Service - How long can soup and Nachos Take?”
Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

We have been eying Mi Cocina since it opened, with its nice exterior and al fresco dining - we decided to try it finally, hoping that its newness had settled in for this busy location. The food was nothing special. Not bad but not outstanding - the service, however was slow. It took forever to get simple nachos and a bowl of soup. Either the kitchen is understaffed or the server is not paying attention - but I would say we will give it awhile before we try it again. It's too bad, because The Woodlands really needs some innovative Mexican cuisine...

“Surprisingly good”
Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

We ate at Mi Cocina for the first time yesterday, and were happily surprised. Although we were only eating lunch it was a good dining experience. The atmosphere here is up market, but the prices are good, and the food quality matched. I made the mistake of ordering full sized chicken nachos. It was a mistake because I was presented with more food than I could eat. We were a little surprised at how long it took the food to come out from the kitchen, but when it arrived we understood. Each nacho had been individually prepared with a slice of chicken breast and cheese before being transferred to the plate they were served on. This was not a lump of stuff - my plate was a masterful presentation! My wife's soup was also good. One thing we did not know is that the restaurant validates valet parking. This is good because parking at the mall can be a problem that detracts from eating there. All in all, good job guys. We'll be coming back to try your other offerings.
