“Good...not Great”
Reviewed August 2, 2010

this hotel has a good old style decoration, when you enter you just like it. We were for one night got there late after midnight and the check in was good and fast, the rooms were clean, and typical size of Homewood Suites Hotels, the bed were good and comfortable, with two good plasma TVs and channels. When you get to the bathroom is were you begin to see the cons of the hotel, for once the lotion (yes the little tiny bottles that they gave to you as compliments) was used, it was half of it, and even that this is something silly and just a simple mistake for me was a little surprising. Then the toilet pipes (I assume it was that) was making weird noises, it sound like a electric toothbrush on or something vibrating and other times like a lot of water just going down (we were in the first floor, maybe that's why) and the shower really need some renovation, although it was clean the part where the tub connect to the wall need some glue on it. The breakfast was not bad but it had the main stuff that any hotel has (scramble eggs, hash brown, sausage, fruits, yogurt, cereal, waffle, coffee, really bad apple juice (taste like water), and orange juice). The other great stuff that has is the business center (fast computer and good printer) and even that I didn't use the pool sure it look good. If I need to stayed again in this area I could stayed here again but if I have option I would try other just to see if it's better than this.

Could not praise the staff from the Homewood Suites enough. All were excellent, and certainly made you feel welcome. Extending my stay at the last minute, not a problem for them. The spacious well equipt suites are ideal, complete with tea/coffee maker, fridge and microwave facilities. IThe suites are in a central location for shops/restaurants and cinema's, but located in a quiet area. Breakfast is very good. The option of on site laundry, gym outside swiming pool area and internet facilities are a plus.

I stayed at the Homewood Suites for 4 weeks recently and enjoyed the comfort and convience of this hotel. The room was a standard 2 room suite and had a full kitchen area - nice. The breakfasts downstairs were good and always set up early (nice for me since was starting at 7am most days). Had only about 1000 places to chose from for supper, so didn't eat the manager's reception but a couple of times - it was okay.

The TVs were older, though I had two to choose from - bedroom and living room. Worked a lot of hours so didn't watch much TV. I didn't even know we had HBO until Week 3. The shower was totally great (always a big plus for me) and the bed was very nice and I slept very well there after long days at work. The A/C was really loud though and ran all the time at thermostat set at 74 deg (it was terribly weak), but really was okay because it blocked out any other noise in the hotel. Plus it was only Feb so Houston temps were only about 80 deg max by then (In July/Aug the A/C may not have been up to the task). Actually had to turn the A/C off so I could hear the nightly conference calls we had to attend - that was really a two part problem, needed quieter A/C and a better speaker phone! The wired internet in the room was super fast (100 mbps) and it didn't bother me at all that it wasn't wireless. The hotel had wireless downstairs and by the pool which I did take advantage of a couple of afternoons because the Feb temps were so nice!

The Woodlands area itself is a super nice part of Houston. We ate out almost every night for supper - I thought Landry's was great and so was Pappadeaux. Could have eaten my weight in Pappa's oysters on the 1/2 shell for amazing $4/doz! Cheesecake Factory - only so-so. Great sushi at this small place near the movie theater in the Woodlands (forgot the name - I looked on Google, couldn't find it).

The odd thing about this hotel was that every weekend some kind of huge youth athletic event was going on - swimming, dancing, soccer. Come Friday suddenly the hotel was host to dozens (scores?) of high school kids (and the noise). Overall it wasn't terrible bad, but just something odd. What is it about sports that makes parents want to drive 100s of miles to make their kids compete, usually every weekend? Go figure - at least it's good for the economy.

Overall a comfortable place to stay especially if you are going to be there awhile. I'd stay there again.

We stayed here for ower family reunion and this is a great hotel with a business room with internet access and a printer which was good because I forgot my laptop. The kids loved the pool and the breakfast area was clean always. The only thing I didn't like was the eggs and hash browns but thats typical for me at a lot of hotels. You can cook your own waffals which was good to me. No problems with check in or out. Rooms were nice and comfortable, especially the bed, I slept like a baby.

I was a little skeptical at first because of some of the older photos on the website, but the stay this week turned out to be one of the best. My stay was for 4 nights.

My room was on the first floor on the North side of the building towards the rear. The complex is set pretty far back from I-45 so there is no noise and most of the people staying here seemed to be on business also so the halls seemed pretty quiet.

The suites are basically the size of two regular hotel rooms: one room is the bedroom/bathroom and the other room is the living room/kitchen. There is a TV in both rooms. The rooms were in great shape with no signs of wear and tear. There is a free wired internet connection near the counter that separates the kitchen and living room. There is wireless in the lobby and meeting rooms. The connection is a little slow, but its fine for email and browsing.

My king bed was very comfortable and the daily service to the room was perfect. (My car rental agreement got thrown away, but no big deal.)

There is both a pool and hot tub which was wonderful. It was a drop too cold to get in the pool. There is a fitness center with a treadmill, elliptical, seated bike, and assorted dumbbells. For the serious gym enthusiasts it is a little skimpy, but for the average person its fine.

The hotel serves a complimentary breakfast each morning and a decent sized dinner each night. Unfortunately I did not have the chance to taste any of these meals.

There is an onsite business center with 2 newer computers and a printer. There is a 24 store that has the normal essentials plus some frozen foods and other single serving foods.

Houston is about 30 min away. The front desk staff was very knowledgeable about local places but was lacking on Downtown Houston attractions. Hotel was difficult to find via online mapping tools so call the hotel if you are not familiar with the area.

Overall it was a great stay and would absolutely stay here again.

Stayed here the night before we went to the Texas Renaissance Festival - it's a 25-minute drive to Faire in the early morning. Suite was larger than regular hotel room - same price ($90)!

King suite had living room & kitchen; TVs in living room & bedroom. Bedroom & bathroom were spacious and very clean. Didn't notice any wear & tear in the place, either!

Complimentary breakfast was excellent: waffles, cereal (hot & cold), fruit, pastries, muffins, bagels, 3 kinds of juice, coffee & tea, etc. Staff kept the tables clear and the food stocked.

Hotel has a small "store" in which you can buy little things and there are restaurants & plenty of stores (incl. Walmart) nearby to take care of meals.

All encounters with hotel staff showed a can-do attitude, no matter the request. Highly recommend this hotel!

  • Liked — The fact that all aspects met or exceeded expectations.
  • Disliked — Sign is hard to see from the road (Woodlands restrictions)

We have family in The Woodlands and have stayed at this hotel at least 6 times in 2007. We have always found it to be excellent. We have a favorite suite and front desk staff attempt to put us in this suite if is not already assigned to someone else from a previous night. (We request this while making the reservation) The 2 rooms are quite comfortable and large, furnishings have been upgraded in the last 2 years, beds are quite comfortable as are the pillows.

Everything is very clean. The only time we noticed any odors was when we were assigned a suite on the 3rd floor in the middle of the hall not far from some smoking rooms. We requested a suite change to the 2nd floor and were immediately accommodated. Other than this one time, there have never been any problems with odors in rooms, the lobby or the eating area. There is a full kitchen in each suite and posted on the refrigerator is a list of evening snacks (sometimes more like a meal) that is provided free to guests in the late afternoon and early evening. Front desk staff as well as breakfast staff are very friendly. There are usually cookies and/or candy at the front desk . Sometimes we get bottled water and additional cookies upon check-in even though we've chosen to receive extra points on our Hilton Honors program rather than the hotel's extra amentieis. Breakfast is quite varied and offers more choices than some other hotels who provide free breakfast. The nearby Drury Suites has a similar breakfast setup but the breakfast seating area is somewhat crowded, whereas the Homewood Suites eating area is spacious and looks out over the seating on the patio and the exterior green space. The hotel's location is great... easy to get to... right off access road to Interstate but set far enough back so as to not get highway noise. My only wish is that the breakfast time period was extended to 10 a.m. as we are late risers. There are numerous restaurants in the nearby vicinity although none within walking distance. Two gasoline stations are very close and amazingly gas is less expensive in this area than in some other parts of Texas! (about 10 cents a gallon less) The Woodlands Mall is also very close.
Upon returning home we receive an e-mail from Alex Cerda, mgr. acknowledging our stay and inviting us to contact him if we had any concerns or issues regarding our stay. Homewood Suites offers a 100% guaranteed refund if unhappy about anything that was reported and unresolved during the stay. We've never had to use it. This hotel is definitely a great place to stay.
