I took a very high professional group of people for lunch and I was very embarrassed. Service was awful. When I talked to the owner about this he sounded like he did not care and tried to give me an excuse. We had to ask more then two times to get what we needed. We almost walked out but because of our schedule we decided to stay. Will never go back again.

My bike-riding friends and I went there a fewf times for breakfast after our bike rids. Despite our several visits, the owner failed to acknowledge our presence there by not even welcoming us to the place. In his absence, the male waiters are the worst in terms of accommodating guests: we asked for another table to be moved so our group would sit comfortably and he refused, so I moved it myself while he leaned against the wall with arms crossed. When we've asked for a different kind of salsa than the one they usually serve with a dish, they charged us $1.00 for a miniscule portion (2 oz.?). My friend asked for a tortilla and she was charged $1.00 for it. This is a group of 4-8 people that could've been their clients every Friday. We've moved on to another restaurant where they've learned our names, ask about our ride, and are most pleasant (HUmmingbird Cafe, around the corner). Caffe di Fiore is a candidate for the TV program "Stake-out".

Sometimes it's great and sometimes it is not so good. It is hit or miss. One waitress is great and one not so good. Take out is sometimes correct and sometimes not. I had been dealing with the hit or miss issues until I was waiting to pay the other day and could see the kitchen swinging door cracked open. The gentlemen at the food prep counter stuck his entire bare hand all the way to his elbow in the oversize grated cheese bag to pull out the cheese. NO gloves and definitely getting more than a assumed clean hand in there. Don't think I will be back after that. In this day - you would think plastic gloves for the cheese would be a necessity.

This little restaurant struggled when it first opened a few years ago. They tried to serve too many ethnically diverse things, most of which were only mediocre. Recently I returned and was pleased to see that they have concentrated on fewer original Mexican dishes, prepared with care using quality ingredients. Their enchiladas verdes and arrachera dishes were excellent as was the shrimp ceviche. Also a nicely prepared mole (pronounced mo-lay) for those who appreciate this dish from Puebla. Time will tell if they can keep it up, but for some of the best Mexican food in the Woodlands as of July 2012, I recommend Caffe di Fiore.
