“One of our favorite places”

We have enjoyed H&H since it opened. Our favorite is the weekend brunch. There have been some recent menu changes. I miss the old favorites, but it is never hard to find something new and good.

“Best coffee in USA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2012

I would have visited a dozen cities in the USA, many multiple times, on about 20 visits over the last 4-5 years, and the espresso coffee at H&H is the only time I have found coffee as good as I get at home. I stayed nearby (Marriott) for a week, so I got to check the consitency as well. It also looks like a great food store and bistro as wll although i didnt eat in

“Completely Underwhelming-- Better restaurants in Woodlands/ Houston”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2012

We were visiting family and they recommended this restaurant. The food quality was there, but everything else seemed to be missing.
From the start I knew things wouldn't be that great. The waiter flew through the specials and actually commented on fast he could read them out to diners ( not exactly a good thing in my book since we had no idea what he said). We ordered the goat cheese for a starter and it was completely bland.. almost like foam ( didn't that trend die a hard death in 2010?). I ordered the salmon and asked it to be a little more cooked than usual where, once again, our stellar waiter lectured me about salmon cooking ( when in fact a measure of a good cook is how well they can cook the most simple of dishes). To the chef's credit, he/she cooked it beautifully-- except whoever plated the entree put too much salty sauce on top. My salmon tasted like ocean. Disappointed we skipped the desserts.
Overall, for $150 I was completely underwhelmed by the service and taste. The quality was good and the quantity was fine. You are better off just shopping at the market.

“Always good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2012

H & H is a combination grocery store, cooking school and restaurant. The ingredients found in all three places are amongst the best you will find in Houston. The beef is air dried for two weeks in visible cases, the butchers know their stuff. Their fish is fresh and varied, good for sushi.
The waiters are well trained and provide excellent service.
The menu varies and food is pulled from the supermarket and butcher shop so that every thing is always fresh and well taken care of.
The food is prepared in sight of the people in the market, menu varies based on whats available in the store, which is very large.;

Great steaks all the time, good soups. Can't go wrong.
