The food a bryces is awesome. It reminds you are grandmas cooking. It is cafateria style, but the food it great. They also have a drive through if you don't want to go in.

We wound around arduously from w/b I-30 to find Bryces on the e/b access rd. it had been touted to us and we were rewarded with tasty limas and an eggplant casserole that made our meal memorable! Nice place, good food, kinda pricey but we felt it was worth it to eat local and avoid the chains!!

We are glad you enjoyed your meal at Bryce's! Sorry you were routed out of the way to get here. GPS services are still trying to get the directions right after the construction on I-30. Please stop in again next time you are in the area. In reference to the pricing, we offer a mini-plate, that is NOT mini, that includes a smaller meat portion, two vegetable servings and your choice of bread. All of this is under $10! Thanks again and happy traveling!

Food quality is solid, but the place is very expensive for a cafeteria. We spend more there than when we eat out with full service.

We are glad you liked the food at Bryce's and appreciate you taking the time to write a review. I want to address your comment about pricing. The review states that you "spend more than when you eat out with full service". We are a full service restaurant and not a "cheap" alternative or an "all you can eat buffet"

We take pride in the fact that we make our food with the fresh ingredients and whole foods. We use real butter, whole milk, fresh eggs, fresh poultry and beef. We buy fresh produce whenever possible and locally grown in season. Our pies, cakes and desserts along with rolls and cornbread are made fresh daily. All of this great food that we offer is made in our kitchen and presented to you by our staff of 55 hard working people. Our dining room team is there to assist you with your tray, refill your glass and get anything you need from condiments to a to-go order. Unlike most restaurants that pay their waitstaff a fraction of the minimum wage we pay our dining room staff a full wage. Most customers leave a small tip on the table but not the customary 20% that is expected at other types of restaurants.

All of this costs money. It is no secret that food prices have soared recently and continue to rise. Our cost of goods has increased significantly but we are unable to raise our prices proportionately because we want to continue to offer quality food at a good price. We offer a variety of choices in every section from salads, desserts, meats, vegetables and breads. Since our portions are quite generous any selection is a value. Our prices are less than the local chains that offer prepackaged, warmed over dishes prepared remotely in a central kitchen then shipped to the local facility in refrigerated trucks.

Let's dive into the pricing and do some comparison shopping. The Bryce's mini-plate is a great value at around $8.50 (at the time of this writing, Aug, 2012) and includes a 1/2 order of meat, two vegetables and your choice of bread. Add a drink and the total for one is in the neighborhood of $10.30 for one. Add a dessert for around $3.50 brings your bill to $13.80. Let's compare this the chain restaurant across the street. Chicken entree with two sides, 9.99, dessert 5.99, drink 2.99 for a total of $18.97, let's round it to $19.00 plus tip of 20% for a grand total of $22.80. Bryce's total was $13.80 + a tip for the dining room staff which is usually about $1 per person. $22.80 - $14.80 = $8.00. Bryce's is 35% less and offers fresh food and comparable portions.

We hope that you will come back to dine with us next time you are in town.

Thank you for your time.

We went around Christmas time during lunch hours. The first thing we noticed was that the ladies serving food in the line had lousy customer service skills. They were rude, short, and unhelpful.

The second thing we noticed was how little food you get. The portion sized on an adult lunch plate were comparable to kids plates at other restaurants! I got the fried chicken platter. It consisted on two very small legs, one scoop of mashed potatoes, one scoop of corn, a small roll, and a soft drink. I had two other people with me getting comparable meals. It ended up costing us around $40 for lunch for three people!

The food was excellent! The chicken very flavorful and fried just right. They had the best cream-style corn I've tasted! However, the drinks were a little flat. Our server was stretched too thin with other customers and other duties, we probably talked to her once.

In all, I probably wouldn't go back. They are way too expensive, have lousy customer service, and tiny portion sizes.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We did want to respond to the points that you made.

Glad you liked the chicken and the creamed corn! We only use fresh poultry which is just one of the reasons our chicken is so good!

According to the review your visit was in December of 2011. Since that time we have addressed customer service issues with personnel "on the line" and we continue to monitor and coach them on bring the level of service up to the highest standards. We apologize for your experience.

The second point you make is that the portions were small. Wow, that is the first we have heard of our portions being less than generous. Our mini-plate, priced at around $8.50 includes a half order of meat, two vegetables and roll. From your description is sounds as if you got the mini-plate. The "mini" is our value meal offering and the portions on it may be slightly less than the "regular" but not skimpy by any means.

The cost issue you mention is that your ticket was $40 for three people which works out to $13 per person. Since you did not mention whether or not members of your party had salad and/or dessert or any additional sides it is hard for me to respond. But I can say that an entree with two sides, dessert and a drink at the chain restaurant across the street would have been in the $18.00 range plus a 20% tip or around $22 per person.

We regret that you received poor customer service in the dining room. We continue to monitor and coach our staff on giving the best service to our customers.

We hope that you will join us again and enjoy our delicious chicken, vegetables and desserts.

Most selections were overcooked, greasy and over salted. However the "straw that broke the camels back" was out ticket total. Two people with no excessive extras...$42.30. The best is yet to come! While paying our tab at the cashiers exit I couldn't help but see a large fishbowl containing single wrapped peppermints for 5 cents each!!!! Talk about CHEAP CHARLIE!!!!!!!! Guard your wallet!!!

We regret that you didn't like your selections at Bryce's. We prepare our food in the "southern style" and each batch is cooked to taste. We buy the freshest ingredients around, use whole foods, fresh vegetables, locally grown when available, real butter, real cream, whole eggs and fresh poultry. We DO NOT use prepackaged ingredients wrapped in plastic. Our goal is to offer a wide selection of foods so that no matter what your preference you can enjoy a delicious meal with us. In our salad area we offer a green lettuce salad with a selection of salad dressings including light options. We offer pasta salads, bean salads, fresh cantaloup, fresh tomatoes along with richer alternatives such as tomato aspic and gelatin molds. In the dessert area we offer wonderful desserts including sugar free pie (the coconut sugar free is "to die for") Our menu changes daily, even twice daily, and most days we offer a grilled chicken breast with either a pasta selection or grilled fresh vegetables. Our delicious baked tilapia is a staple and on the menu at every meal. We regret that you found the selections too salty and we are working on seasoning our food to meet the demands of changing tastes. Some feel the vegetables are too bland so we are open to the feed back.
None of this is cheap. As you know food costs have risen considerably over the past years and continue to rise. We absorb a lot of the costs because we don't feel that we can pass on the full price and still remain competitive. However, we are committed to offering great food at a good price! We are not a cheap alternative or an "all you can eat buffet". It is difficult for me to address the ticket total of $42.30 without knowing what was on your tray. You more than likely had a salad and a dessert along with your entree and vegetables. Let's do a comparison with approximate prices at the time of this writing (August, 2012). At Bryce's let's assume you had an Entree $7, Salad $3.00, Vegetables(2) at 2.00, dessert 3.50 and drink 1.80 adds up to $19.30. Compare to a similar meal at restaurant across the street
Entree $10-12, Salad 3.00, side, 2.00 dessert 6.00, drink 2.50 which is $23.50 plus 20% tip for a total around $28.00 per person. In this comparison if we add a $1 tip for the dining staff at Bryce's you meal was $7.70 less; a 35% savings over a comparable meal across the street.
We appreciate you taking the time to write the review and thank you for reading this response.
