We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a Road Scholar hiking trip in Big Bend National Park--fabulous hiking. Our guides were 2 Far Flung staff, Chris and Tim, and they did a great job of looking after us all week.
The casitas are all very new, and well-equipped. These are kit homes, and the construction and layout is great. We were so busy hiking, that we didn't have a chance to really enjoy our casita, which had a porch with a pair of wonderful rocking chairs to enjoy the sunset. The kitchenette is equipped with MW, coffee maker, etc, so making breakfast for yourself each morning is easy and efficient. The bathroom is well-equipped with a good shower and both heat and exhaust fan. Our only problem was finding just the right temperature for the heat in the body of the casita, especially because being in the desert you are already battling dry air, and putting the heat on means you make the problem worse. But December nights get very cold in the desert, so heat you must.
The grounds are nicely landscaped. There are also hummingbird feeders on the porch and around the garden, but October is the time they pass through.
This is a very isolated location, so bring with you what you will need. You are a long way from anywhere if you forget something.
The staff are very helpful. I emailed with questions before our visit, and got really useful advice in response from the owners.

We booked a 6 hour tour, and it exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Erin, was very knowledgable and nice. The lunch was better than expected. Even though it was sandwiches, Erin did a nice job with the set-up. She also brought some home-made hot sauce which was delicious. The tours are a little pricey but it is nice to have someone guide you so you don't have to spend time planning and figuring out where to go.

After our visit to the Big Bend National Park we headed to Terlingua TX, just a few miles outside the park. Here we stayed at the Far Flung Adventures Casita’s and the placed we had booked our full day raft adventure down the Rio Grand and a half day desert jeep tour. The Casita’s are beautiful and the staff is excellent. Our raft trip was perfect. Great guides and a beautiful trip. The jeep tour was fun and the guide great.
I cannot say enough about the staff and our experiences. It was a 5 star experience.
Highly recommend them.

We took the ATV tour to Christmas mountain and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We rode 1 ATV (driver and passenger) and another couple was in our group. Dean, the guide, was very knowledgeable about the plants, animals and geology of the area.

You will get dusty but it's well worth it!

I was part of a group of seven women that went on the overnight adventure and was it ever an adventure. In spite of the weather making a turn for the worst the guides made us comfortable (as much as they could) and made the trip memorable. They were helpful, informed, gracious and experienced. I would encourage women in your 50's and 60's and even older who are "stuck in a rut" to check this trip out to get yourself out of the box. The guides do most of the work and the scenery is second to none. We had Jenny, Laura and Billy. They were amazing. Thanks you guys for getting us through this memorable trip!
