We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a Road Scholar hiking trip in Big Bend National Park--fabulous hiking. Our guides were 2 Far Flung staff, Chris and Tim, and they did a great job of looking after us all week.
The casitas are all very new, and well-equipped. These are kit homes, and the construction and layout is great. We were so busy hiking, that we didn't have a chance to really enjoy our casita, which had a porch with a pair of wonderful rocking chairs to enjoy the sunset. The kitchenette is equipped with MW, coffee maker, etc, so making breakfast for yourself each morning is easy and efficient. The bathroom is well-equipped with a good shower and both heat and exhaust fan. Our only problem was finding just the right temperature for the heat in the body of the casita, especially because being in the desert you are already battling dry air, and putting the heat on means you make the problem worse. But December nights get very cold in the desert, so heat you must.
The grounds are nicely landscaped. There are also hummingbird feeders on the porch and around the garden, but October is the time they pass through.
This is a very isolated location, so bring with you what you will need. You are a long way from anywhere if you forget something.
The staff are very helpful. I emailed with questions before our visit, and got really useful advice in response from the owners.
