“Far flung Crumpets river raft trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

17 of us got to be good friends and had a fabulous trip of three days and two nights on the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park with Francois from Crumpets Restaurant in San Antonio and the FF guides treating us to delicious gourmet meals and wines to match along the way. For a relaxing trip out in beautiful nature, off the grid, go on this trip! The guides were great fun! I have not laughed so much in a long time....

“Awesome Jeep Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

I made reservations for a group of four to go on the Camino del Rio jeep tour. The night before our tour the Big Bend area was blessed with an awesome thunderstorm causing flash flooding and rendering most of the back country roads impassable. We arrived at Far Flung's headquarters fully expecting to be told that our trip had been cancelled. Our guide, Erica, met us and explained that the tour we had planned to take would not be possible because of the flooding but offerred us several alternatives. We ended up hiking Pine Canyon, one of the prettiest places in Big Bend, and were rewarded with a 300 + foot waterfall thanks to the recent rains. As a bonus, our guide took us to Boquillas and Ernst Tinaja, both places any visitor to Big Bend should see, and had snacks and a really nice lunch for us along the way. Our guide was knowledgeable, professional and very entertaining, a rare combination. I would definitely recommend using Far Flung as your outfitter in the Big Bend area.

“Jeep Tour Not Worth it”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

My wife & I were looking forward to a great tour of part of the Big Bend area via guided jeep tour. We had had a great jeep tour outside of Palo Duro Canyon last year and thought this would be similar. Well, our guide was more interested in telling about all her issues as we went out on the desert floor for a three hour "tour". They talked us into this, their most popular jeep tour, the Camp 360. Basically we went out and back the same dirt road for the three hours. We saw a couple of interesting rock formations, but that was it. The guide was knowledgeable of some things, but dismissed a number of our questions. It was not worth the time we spent.

“Great Time On The Rio Grande”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

Even though the water was too low for rafts (which we had been told ahead of time was a possibility), we had a great time canoeing with Mark, Laura and the gang! There was a stop for snacks and what a spread! After being fortified, we set off to complete our journey. Thanks for a great time!

“Boquillas Canyon, Rio Grande”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2012

A group of teachers wanted to take an end-of-school-year canoeing trip on the Rio Grande. While the trip was in the exploratory stage, we contacted Far Flung Outdoor Adventures in Terlingua and received really helpful advice on how we could make this work. All the agreed-upon arrangements (partial outfitting and transportation to and from the river) worked as planned. Our four-day paddle in Boquillas Canyon was every bit as spectacular as anticipated, and we have great memories already of our time on the Rio Grande. A particularly noteworthy "value-added" service was our driver John's useful advice and guidance during the ride to the put-in and from the take out. Facing a barrage of questions from four naturally curious teachers, John patiently and knowledgeably supplied answers, and these answers made it obvious that he knows and loves the Big Bend area. We'll be pleased to recommend Far Flung to others, and we hope to come back there ourselves soon.
