Big Bend Casitas at Far Flung Outdoor Center
Certificate of Excellence

Everything was just that -terrific. Casitas were new and up to date. Kitchen was well supplied (maybe some microwave baking dishes could be considered) and the barbeques were clean and always available. The porches with the rocking chairs provided an opportunity to watch either the sunrise or sunset- or both. Lots to do and see and a great place to come 'home' to after hiking in Big Bend Park or visiting the Ghostown.
There are few shops in Terlingua but there is a well stocked store in Story Butte that seems to have almost everything. If you plan to cook in - you might consider shopping in a larger town before setting out.
It is by far, the best place to stay in Terlingua.

Room Tip: Request a casita with a back porch facing the back of the property to get the wide vistas.

We loves the casitas. They were perfect. Immaculate and well equipped. There are two gas fired grills and an ice machine onside. The casitas contain all the crockery, cutlery and utensils that you need to grill. The location is perfect for access to Terlingua, the state park and the national park.

In Terlingua, try the Starlight Theatre and a Darren Special.

We had a brilliant trip and when we return, it'll be to the casitas. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our four nights at Las Casitas. Our cabin was spacious, clean and modern and had (almost) everything we needed to self cater (a mini hob would be useful). It's a short drive up to Terlingua Ghost Town and about a half hour drive into the heart of the National Park, which is absolutely stunning.

We also went on a full day rafting trip with Far Flung which we would recommend. If you stay in the N.P. you would need to come out to Terlingua anyway to do the rafting so staying here makes sense especially when the accommodation and dining options in the N.P. are very limited. Don't worry about other reviews which say that the Casitas are near the road. They are set back about 50 yards and it's a really quiet road anyway - not a lot of people go to the Big Bend region and that's what makes it so great.

We have chosen this place after reading the Trip Advisor reviews. We really can recommend it. Reservation process was easy and the huts are modern and clean. You are very close to little shops, Big Bend and Terlingua Ghosttown. Also the tours from FFOC start right next to the huts. We booked a 1/2 day Jeep tour and a 1/2 day canoe tour. Excellent and professional guides.
We were a group of four in one hut. Just missing one or two shelves to put all our stuff out of the suitcases. Be careful if you sleep in one hut by four and need air conditioning: One of the sleepers has his head right besides (2ft distance) the very noisy AC. You have to protect yourself with towels laid over chairs (that is why we cant give all the points). We had hut no 6.

This is my third trip to Big Bend. Once we stayed in the Chisos Basin, once we stayed at a competitor's place down the street and when we were booking our raft trip for this trip with Far Flung, they asked us if we needed a place to stay and I am glad I decided to give them a try. Our casita was modern and clean like many have reported. More than that, the entire staff is friendly and customer focused. Study Butte is a far better place to stay than the Chisos Basin. Once you are up there, you have no options other than to eat at their restaurant. In Study Butte/Terlingua, the choices may be limited, but at least you have choices. And, if you bring food you can nuke, you can stay right here in the room and eat. We will definitely come back here on our next trip to Big Bend.

Room Tip: We were in Casita 5. They are building a new group of Casitas behind the original set. I cannot se...

It was hard to convince my wife and daughter that we would be staying in a clean, modern, comfortable and safe place inTerlingua. That all changed when we checked into the Casitas at Far Flung Outdoor Center. The casitas are super clean and modern with all the conveniences of home. Located just minutes from Terlingua and the entrance to Big Bend National Park. The back porch and courtyard are relaxing and offer a great place for the kids to run around. The Casitas are by far the best accommadations that I personally saw in the area.

Room Tip: Stock up on groceries before coming to town, not many choices.

This was our first trip to the Big Bend area and lodging was slim pickin's. Hubby found this little gem while surfing the 'net. Sounded great, so I booked our stay.

We were not disappointed. The Casitas are fairly new and very well thought out. A bit larger than most hotel/motel rooms with two queen beds, flat panel TV with satellite, a large bathroom with shower stall, no tub, which was well stocked, a kitchenette with microwave, under cabinet refrigerator, coffee maker, service for four eating and drinking utensils plus dishes. Air conditioning! A nice back porch with big heavy rocking chairs to watch the sun set or the lightening off in the distance, or to gaze at the stars at night. No one running up and down the halls laughing and yelling, or thumping around above us. Very quiet for sleeping. We took advantage of it all.

Located just a couple miles from the entrance to Big Bend, this place is the perfect home base. Visiting during the area's off season, several restaurants were closed, so food choices were limited. Not the fault of Las Casitas. :)

We had a very comfortable stay and would definately recommend Las Casitas to all our friends or anyone heading to the area.
