“Cheap hotel, good value”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2010

The LaQuinta Inn is a cheap, comfortable hotel in Temple, TX. If you are looking for a place to crash that is clean and has good value, then this is the hotel for you. Better hotels in town would be the Holiday Inn and Hilton Garden Inn. Worse hotels would be the Travelodge and Motel 6. I wouldn't want to spend a vacation at this hotel, but it is okay if you need a place to sleep in Temple. They also have a free continental breakfast with a waffle maker!

Made reservations for a handicap excessable room for two nights, arrived at the hotel and was advised the room i had reservations for was occupied but no one was in the room, i asked for another handicap accesible room and none were available. I needed a room so i accepted another room, the restroom was so small the door opening was about 30 inches, no hand rails, the young lady working said she could do nothing about the people in the room i had reservations for, i assure you i will not be staying at another La Quinta again.

This place is older and could use some updating, but overall it is clean and fairly quiet (a loud flock of birds in the area will hopefully be gone soon). There was no problem with the homeless as was mentioned in an old review. The area had quite a few fast food places and is near the high school and football stadium.

The personnel were all friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Our room had two full size beds -- could be updated to new queen size mattresses for a much better sleep experience. The breakfast offered the cook-it-yourself waffles, sweet rolls & muffins, hardboiled eggs (peeled), yogurt, bananas, oatmeal, etc. All pretty standard but very nice.

I have stayed twice in the last month as I have a family member in the Scott & White hospital there. It is not luxurious, but it is affordable and I would stay there again. I used the AARP rate and was pleased with the price.

The room was dated and the bathroom had just enough room to shut the door-itty bitty, but I couldn't see anything that was not clean. The beds were long full size beds. My husband and I slept together the first night and apart the second due to the small size. Couldn't have asked for a better continental breakfast selection. I especially appreciated the peeled hard cooked eggs. For the $35 I paid on priceline I would stay again.

Stayed one night after attending nearby football game. Found it to be a great location off the main expressway, clean, secure and next door to Starbucks and a variety of fast food outlets. Also a five minute drive to a small but cute old downtown Temple. Saw no evidence of the homeless cited a year or two ago here, and found the staff friendly and helpful.

This is an old hotel that has been constantly renovated. You will notice this in the steps as you go to your second floor room. It's seems to always be the second floor if you have a discounted room and arrive late. Lobby was clean. Breakfast was adequate but don't expect a lot. Check in and check out was very good. Room was clean. Sheets had bene changed. Bathroom was adequate. Towels are getting a little old. Parking was good.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2006

We stayed at the LaQuinta in Temple twice during June on our way to and from visiting relatives in another state, and we have stayed at this motel several times in the past few years, but we will not be returning. On a positive note, the one-bedroom suites are very nice and roomy for a family of five. There is no fitness room, but guests may go to a nearby gym, which is very nice. The continental breakfast is adequate. On the negative side, though, the sofa bed was so uncomfortable that our children preferred to sleep on the floor. Also, if you are staying in one of the third floor suites, one must take a very difficult and circuitous route to get from the parking lot to the elevator and then to one's room. But the biggest drawback of this hotel is that there is apparently an encampment of homeless people living in a vacant area nearby. Our car, and two other cars, were broken into the second night we stayed there. When the policeman came to investigate, he said that the same thing had happened the night before. Another guest said she pulled into the parking lot at 11 p.m. and was approached by a homeless man, but she ran into the hotel and he went away. The manager says he has hired a security guard, but I will not feel safe staying here again.
