“Late lunch was surprisingly good”

Skeet's Texas Grill
Ranked #3 of 40 Restaurants in Sweetwater
Cuisines: American
Description: This is located right in front of the Country Hearth Inn, the food is surprisingly excellent! I was on an 8-day road trips and all I could remember was this restaurant. All the fried food tasted fresh - that was very hard to do.

A family member from the area suggested Skeet's as one of the best restaurants in the area. We found it to be an excellent late lunch.
Two in the group selected the coconut shrimp plate and one the seafood plate. The seafood plate was good, but the coconut may have been slightly better.
Dinner salad with raspberry vinaigrette was very good. Baked potatoes was just right.
Lots of larger cities would be fortunate to have a restaurant this good!

The fried mushrooms are fresh, hand battered, and fried to perfection. Nice surprise. Caesar salad with grilled chicken is very large serving. Chicken perfectly seasoned and grilled. Same with the fajita salad. Large servings, great price!

This is obviously a great local favorite because they were out in force before the football games. Everyone was so friendly that it was infectious whenever anyone came through the door. There is a good variety of meal choices, large portions and reasonable prices. This was a great experience when we passed through town.

We arrived around 8 PM on Friday night and were seated with only a very short delay, despite a larger group waiting ahead of us. The place is nobody's version of fancy, but it is clean, and service was good, if not overly attentive. My ribeye was cooked med-rare as I ordered it, and was a good piece of beef. Everyone else thought their food was pretty good.

The primary issue I had was that to pay, you were standing in the space between the separate entry room and the dining area, so you are blocking access. Additionally, as I waited, the cashier was on the phone taking an order, then helped another phone-in order customer that came after I had taken my stance across from the counter, out of the passageway. They could all use some training on customer service, for sure, but service was pretty good overall.

Prompt service and great food. Chicken fried steak best in town. Only drawback is they serve no adult beverages.
