The beach was great, could use a clean up crew, a lot of trash on the beach. The surf fishing was good the whole time we where there.

Fairly undeveloped beach amenities; easy access to the Gulf waters from designated public access; visitors are welcomed by the locals. There are a couple good restaurants and one great fairly new hotel.

We returned again this summer to Surfside, but this time stayed in a little "cottage" on Pedestrian Beach. "Group Therapy" is a cranky, old worn out beach house that needs lots of love (and some new furniture). It's repairs have been patch-worked, the floors are creaky and a couple of bedrooms smelled dusty and musty. The kitchen has been redone, the AC was cool and we always had plenty of hot water....everything else could use a major renovation. We booked late summer and it was one of only a few beachfronts left. We won't book it again, but if you're not wanting to spend much and have low expectations, this might work for you.

The beach itself is showing some wear. The restoration project is already shifting and loosing some of its hold, but all in all it was a great week. Zero seaweed in the water when the winds were from the south, but when the surf changed direction late last week, carpets of seaweed were washing ashore...we didn't get in that day, nor did many of the others visiting. Can't really help that though, just par for the course for that area.

Nice place, not too crowded. Not much traffic, visitors can park right on the beach. Beautiful sunrise.

Best beach in Texas.

This place doesn't really welcome "tourists." It's a quite town full of locals or those who escape to live Oceanside. We rented a beach house which we just adored. Entire family went. Clean beach. Nice for body surfing and surfing. Went running every morning && watched the sunrise. So beautiful.

Have all your goodies with you. The nearest store is about 20 minutes away.
