I have been going to Fernando's since 2010 and have never had a bad or even mediocre dining experience. The ambiance is excellent.

My favorite dish is the Pollo y Mar.....the quality is always superb. The empanada's and ceviche as appertizers are PERFECT everytime. Love the plantain chips. And no dining experience would be complete without the chocolate bread pudding w/Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla.

Fernando is a terrific owner/host. I feel like I am at his home and one of his family.

And the best part....white table cloth dining at a reasonable, non-snobbish, price.

Fernando's is our favorite restaurant in the city. The menu is excellent, the service is magnificent and has something for everyone. We love the Paella, cook in a clean Spanish style. The steaks are cook in a Latin style with the delicious chimichurri sauce. There is music on Friday and Saturday night, you are welcome to dance or just enjoy the music. Fernando and his staff make you feel like part of a family, but at the same time you have your own space and privacy. A true Latin experience.

Despite the fact that the restaurant promotes itself as a "steak" place, both the Corvina (fish) and the Pollo y Mar dishes were wonderfully presented and very tasty. The Corvina in particular was incredibly tender; some of the best fish I've ever tasted. It was served with a light sauce which perfectly enhanced the dish. The ceviche was an unusual recipe with large pieces of fish instead of the more typical small chunks; very tasty. The owner and staff were very friendly and solicitous. I'd go back just for the Corvina!

We ate here 2 nights ago with another couple - it was a Friday night at 7:00 pm. There was a nice intimate crowd of about 6 other tables. We called ahead to find out the dress since we couldn't locate any information online. We were told upscale casual: jeans, nice shirt for guys and similar for gals. We were greeted by "Fernando" himself at the door. The ambiance is very cozy with romantic soft lighting, white table cloths, candles and a live singer with a dance floor. We started with 2 sampler trios and a bottle of Pinot Grigio ( great wine list BTW ). The appetizer had a beef empanada, a lightly breaded shrimp with lemon sauce and ceviche. WOW! Very yummy! Every table receives plantains with cilantro dipping sauce but Fernando treated us with an on-the-house yuca crab cake to share. Very good too!
Next, we had 2 orders of the Sopa De Mar - a seafood bisque that just melted in our mouths!
The men in our group asked Fernando what he recommended on the menu for a main course and he said without a doubt the Mixed Grill (beef tenderloin, lamb chops, shrimp and chicken sausage). Very good, from what little the guys would let us sample!
We ladies both had the Pollo Y Mar which was a large chicken breast topped with seafood and avocado and a light lemon wine sauce served with rice and grilled veggies. Whoa was this Yummy!
Fernando delivered on-the-house alcholic shots made with guava liquor and red wine to every patron at the restaurant. He said a beautiful toast and we all raised our glasses to each other. Very fun!
We enjoyed the singer who sang a wide variety of classic and newer songs. Most couples did get up and dance, our group included.
We finished the evening with dessert. Please do NOT leave Fernando's without trying the chocolate bread pudding! Oh. My. Goodness. You've never had anything this good!
We will be back!

Ate here with my husband because we bought a Living Social deal $30.00 for $60.00. Nice atmosphere, at 6:00p.m. we were the only ones there. We ordered Chicken with avocado, crab and crawfish. Very tasty, but very greasy, grilled vegetables very greasy also. Garlic bread and fried plantains very bland. When our bill arrived, it totaled $57.25, with tax. We were told we would have to pay tax separately, which we knew was not included along with the tip in the $60.00. But the waiter also made us pay the extra 2.75. because we had not used all the $60.00. In other words, if you only spend $40.00 out of the $60.00 they will make you pay the difference which you have already paid for, along with tax and tip. INSANE! The waiter was very insistant and because we did not want to make a scene we left the extra money. Definitely will not return, poor customer service and very expensive for the quality of the food.
