“It is a business hotel strictly!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

I had stayed at this property for a week. As I was there for my meetings, I found the place to be very convenient.
1. It was close to my meeting venue.
2. The proximity to all the malls and stores is also good.
3. The rooms were very comfortable and luxurious.

Suggestion: ask for the room with Lake View

Negative: the breakfast served. It's bland and bad. No variety. And not made to suit international travelers who have veg or vegan preferences.

Overall : excellent

Stayed here with my wife for a week visiting family and the surrounding area, not realizing the hotel is primarily set up for the needs of the business traveller. If you want some of the perks of a traditional hotel, such as comfortable areas to hang out and nice in-house dining options, then look elsewhere.

The hotel is about 5 minutes (by the excellent hotel shuttle) to the town centre and other Sugar Land malls. We used the shuttle a few times and it was generally very punctual and pleasant.
Go out the rear door of the hotel (by the conference centre) and sit or walk along the lake. Also there is a footbridge that takes you over to some fine restaurants (try Coal Vines for a glass of wine) and eventually to Whole Foods.

Highlights

-Rooms are lovely with pleasant décor and a great bathroom/shower area. It is open plan with a seating area, good desk and handy TV table for snacks.
-WIFI throughout the hotel is great and very fast and consistent. Also you can print from your room extremely easily to the lobby printers.
-Fitness room is excellent for a hotel with free weights and a few machines. There’s also a good-sized area for stretching.
-Front desk staff (who are also the kitchen staff!) were great and kept a pleasant demeanor at all times

Areas needing some work

-The AC in the room was very difficult to set appropriately. In particular when sitting at the desk a fan constantly blows on the back of your neck!
-Breakfast is not good. It only goes until 9am sharp during the week (10am on weekends) and the staff clear away all food promptly at 9am. If you come at 9:05 looking for anything you’re out of luck! The tea selection is excellent but usually the tea water tasted of coffee. The food on offer was bland and never changed during our stay. Reminded me of airline food.
-Beds are way too soft!

Room Tip: Most rooms seemed quite fine. We like a higher room away from the elevators but noise was a non-issu...

This is a nice hotel in a nice location, but REALLY far from the airport. It took me 65 mins in a cab and cost over $105.

The staff are very helpful and try hard. Rooms are fairly standard and nice appointed.

The biggest draw back for me was the location in terms of proximity to the airport.

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at the Hyatt Place Sugar Land.
I am pleased to hear the positive comments regarding my staff during your stay. We pride ourselves on delivering each and every guest an exceptional experience and as you mentioned they work hard to achieve this.
In regards to the proximity of the hotel to the Airport, it is my hope that the hotel was in close proximity to the area or company that brought you to Sugar Land. While Sugar Land may not be as close as some other parts of Houston, it allows for a safe and peaceful environment for our guests. The location allows for guests to take advantage of the beautiful lakeside setting while being within close proximity to numerous wonderful restaurants and major corporations.
If I can be of further assistance in planning your next trip please let me know.
Thank you again for your feedback.

Sincerely,

Mike Gleeson

Nice rooms but beds are too soft!

There was not other type of beds available so I had to suffer backaches for a week. This is not a hotel for people used to firm mattress.
Besides the flofy bed, the rooms are very spacy, the desk is confi and the leaving room is quite nice.

usual business hotel. Breakfast is simple horrible: dry pancakes and very limited choice in food.
No cheese or ham, just precooked sandwich or omelette which was impossible to cut.
Position is good for business. Room is ok, large enough and with a god space to work. Excellent the 24/7 open gym. Pool is too small....just a big jacuzzi. Staf is extremely kind, as per US standard.

Loved the location, there is a lake and a jogging trail , so pretty and nice, the manager was so nice, and helpful!!!! The place is really clean and neat! But the decoration is so ugly, the reception looks like a kitchen! They should really try to improve the entrance of the hotel! The rooms are very large and nice.

Centrally located in Sugar Land but away from traffic, this hotel offers great value with their free breakfast, free wifi and very spacious rooms. The staff is friendly and the common areas are uniquely scented. I rarely saw anyone else in the gym and used the equipment every day. The only thing that would have made our 7 night stay better, would have been guest laundry facilities.
