I love staying at Rose Hill Manor. As a San Antonio native, I have ready access to Fredericksburg and the Hill Country. My visits to Rose Hill never disappoint :) I am on a first name basis with the owners and meet the most interesting people at Rose Hill. My trip was just a little R & R to enjoy the views, the room, the food, and the wine. I got to stay in the Sunrise Suite which was an added plus. Today I am headed to Rose Hill for their Thanksgiving Dinner.

Room Tip: My favorites are Sunrise Suite, Oak Grove Cottage, Downstairs Carriage House.....all for different r...

My wife and I spent a 3 day weekend at this beautiful place. My wife is a "great cook", but our meal on Friday had to be the "best dinner" that my wife didn't prepare. Absolutely wonderful, of course, accomplained by Pedernales Cellars Vino Blanco, made it great! We will return and I have spread the word. Gotta Love the "Texas Wine Country".

We so enjoyed our last year's anniversary, spent at Rose Hill Manor, that we returned again this year. This was our third visit, and we feel right at home when we stay at Rose Hill. I've waxed poetic about the views, the accommodations and the food in previous reviews. This time I'll focus on the staff; they were warm and friendly, and eager to fulfill our every wish. They were delighted to find that we were "returnees", and were very appreciative of our patronage of Rose Hill Manor.

The weather was perfect, the cottage pristine and comfy, and the RHM employees were stellar! We love this place! It has become "our hideaway". We have stayed at other inns and B&Bs in Texas; Rose Hill Manor is our favorite by far.

Room Tip: We prefer cottages for our privacy, but we have had an upstairs room as well. All are equally comfo...

This is one of my favorites. I have been going for years. The hotel is beautiful, views are spectacular, the help friendly, helpful, and right on top of your requests. Patti, the owner, is always around making you feel right at home. This is a relaxing spot! We always eat at the hotel. The food is wonderful! Some of the best we've had. The breakfasts will hold you till dinner. Not what you would expect, but 4 star food! Fredericksburg is a great little city. You can shop all day, visit the Pacific War Museum, or go on a winery tour. Stop at Beckers winery, easily the most beautiful and best in the area. Plus its close to Rose Hill and an great place to wrap up your day.

Room Tip: Get the Sunrise room. The best with it's windowed sitting room and veranda porch. Second would...

We sincerely appreciate you kind words about Rose Hill Manor and the surrounding area. We are very fortunate that we have so many of our guest return time after time to our facility. The Chef and kitchen staff always work very hard to make sure our guest have a very memorable experience when dining with us. Our proximity to Fredericksburg is definitely a plus and the wineries, tasting facilities and entertainment continue to grow and flourish in the area. We were very excited to see the ground breaking ceremony for the new Texas Ranger Heritage Center (law enforcement) that will be coming to Fredericksburg. We always love to hear from our guest and greatly appreciate your continued relationship with Rose Hill.

This stately bed and breakfast is perched atop a long, gentle hill a few miles east of Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country. The scenery is not the jaw-dropping kind, but it is very serene and beautiful ... at least to a Texan.

Visitors can stay in the manor, or in one of several cottages. We had a cottage. It was well-appointed. The king bed was very comfortable. The bath was nice, but if you prefer a shower, be prepared to step into a tub. All cottages feature a low-slung deck where you may sit and launch your view toward the surrounding hills. Unfortunately, recent rains had soaked our chair cushions, something we discovered too late.

After changing into dry clothes, we made the nice walk to dinner in the manor. The four-course meal was pleasant and we enjoyed the very earnest efforts of our waiter. On a 1-to-10 rating, I would give the food a 6 for taste and a 2 for presentation. We opted for their wine pairing and wished later we'd just ordered a glass of wine for the entree. The pairings produced too much to drink, too poor in quality and too expensive for what you get.

The following morning, a quick knock on the door announced the arrival of breakfast. Guests can choose to eat a hot breakfast in the manor, or a more continental fare delivered to their room in a cheery picnic basket. Nice touch.

While our stay was overall a pleasant one, there were disappointments. It's hard to feel welcomed when most of the establishment's correspondence threatens severe financial penalties if you cancel or change your reservations. One can understand the need for the rules, but this B&B repeats them and gives the air of a strict and uncompromising business more concerned about the bottom line than the welfare of its clients. Before our check-in, we experienced a bit of that in a phone call.

The second issue is simply born of our desire to stay at a B&B run by the owner who visits with guests and creates an environment that encourages guests to visit with each other. Rose Hill feels more like a boutique hotel than an intimate bed and breakfast. It is a victim of its size. However, the size issue could be overcome if the staff and correspondence were more welcoming.

Thanks for choosing to stay with us at Rose Hill Manor!. I agree that the view is amazing across the Texas Hill Country and we are very proud of the location of our facility and the fact that it allows our guests to have a wonderful view of the countryside. In response to our policies we do require that our guest are fully aware of our cancellation policies for their protection and ours. We do send out a courtesy reminder for our guests and we also recommend trip insurance to help them if there is a need for a sudden change of plans. If you choose to dine with us at our dinner and/or breakfast we do not require that our guest all dine together and many of our guest enjoy the privacy and peacefulness of their stay. Thank you for your feedback and we hope that you will choose to stay with us again.

For our 2nd anniversary, my wife and I took to the Texas Wine Country. I choose to stay at Rose Hill Manor due to its proximity to many wineries and its reviews on TripAdvisor. Everything was wonderful. Even though dinner is mandatory (if you stay during the weekend), it was very good. The wine paring was also very nice. Breakfast each morning was also very good but very heavy unless you choose the continental breakfast or cereal. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, and the grounds/quarters are very well kept. My only comment for improvement is that we only had about 15 minutes of hot water the first morning. We stayed in a cottage, and I wonder if they all use a central water heater and everyone was taking a shower at the same time. Also, the air conditioning unit was quite loud.

We stayed two of the most relaxing nights you could wish for. The hotel's was immaculate. We had the most wonderful gourmet dinner. You could stay and never have to leave for nourishment. The staff was most attentive. There was an unpleasant guest that tried to upset the owner (who had the grace to just accept his unworthy complaint). We could not have had a better experience. There was the added convenience of having a fine winery within walking distance. Can't wait to get back to enjoy this out-in-the-country experience.

We appreciate you staying with us at Rose Hill Manor! All of our staff work very hard to make sure your stay is as pleasant and peaceful as possible. Having Pedernales Cellers next door is an added bonus for us too as they are a great winery and our guest can just walk over to visit them. Thank you for your business and we are looking forward to your next stay.
