My husband and I were given a one night stay as a wedding gift. We waited until our first anniversary to use the gift certificate. Our suite, Sunrise Suite, was so big, beautiful and comfortable. The staff had filtered water and glasses on the table waiting for us in our room along with a Happy Anniversary card. We arrived a couple of hours before dinner which is served at 7pm, we needed a snack and received a wonderful fruit and cheese plate in our room. After dressing for dinner, we had cocktails on the front porch and were taken into the dining room to be seated. The four course meal with wine parings was amazing. Our dessert came with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on the plate! So special! The 3 course breakfast is absolutely over the top. We definitely plan to go there again next anniversary. The only downfall is the road leading up to the manor. it is a caliche road and very, very bumpy. If you plan to visit Rose Hill Manor, you would probably want to get most of your running around done before settling in for the evening. We hated going up and down that road.

Room Tip: There are cabins, which have jacuzzis, and there are suites upstairs in the main building. I would definitely stay in the upstairs suites. The Sunrise suite and the Sunset suite share a private veranda. They are quiet, comfortable, great air conditioning, and the view is amazing.

We are especially delighted to have been a part of your very special first anniversary!!! Thank you
so much for the wonderful descriptions of your stay as well. After heavy rains, the road up to Rose Hill does require attention each time and is done as soon as possible. (We were thrilled to have
just had a 5.7inch rain!) Some of our longtime guests have told us that even though it might
seem slow to get up the hill to us -- it's the beginning of the relaxation they had been looking
for and the view is a welcome reward -- and we surely hope so! Looking forward to seeing you
two next year for that second anniversary, and anytime in between if the opportunity arises. Very best wishes and many thanks from the owners and staff of Rose HIll Manor.

Sincerely,

Dianne Smith

After a great week in San Antonio on the RIverwalk and for Fiesta, my husband and I came to the hill country and found the Rose Hill Manor to be even better than expected.
I did not want a chain hotel with no atmosphere nor did I want to have antiques and too much forced socializing at a B & B. What a wonderful setting, secluded with spacious porches and bathrooms---stayed upstairs in the main house. Great for relaxing on the porch and reading as well as close to Fredericksburg, LBJ ranch, etc. The biggest surprise was the quality of the restaurant; really wonderfully cooked, imaginative food and an unstopable wine list.
Great breakfasts as well which can be delivered to the room. Lots for the money!

Room Tip: I can't imagine any were better than the front two sharing the long porch in the main house.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon, and we could not have asked for a more perfect trip. The accommodations and the views were lovely. We were close enough to Fredericksburg to drive in to shop or eat, but it is far enough out that it feels quiet, private, and relaxing. It is also near a number of wineries. The first night of our trip we ate at Austin's for dinner, and it was some of the best food and wine we have ever had. Each morning we also had a delicious breakfast, and we always experienced wonderful customer service. We hope to come back for an anniversary!

In our travel planning, we look for experiences off the beaten path; it often allows us to experience the actual soul of a region rather than the front put up for tourists. These genuine places offer unique and unexpected amenities. Rose Hill Manor is one of those gems; a place for the unhurried and appreciative traveler as well as romantics of all ages. Located in Stonewall, three miles off US 290, it is a place that is not obvious to the typical traveler. In addition to the excellent breakfast offered each morning, a helpful staff, an extensive wine collection, and a DVD collection at your disposal, the Pedernales Wine Cellar is a short 50 yards down a boardwalk with free tastings for guests. In addition to an excellent dinner, our visit offered a free visit to the Garrison Brothers Bourbon distillery in Hye, Texas. Our accommodations in the Oak Grove Cottage were excellent - as seen the attached photos. We spent a total of five relaxing days as we explored the surrounding hill country. In summary, the best recommendation I can give is this – I would eagerly return.

My wife and I and my parents booked two cotteges here over mardi gras (had to get away from louisiana). This is a very nice property, located in a scenic part of hill country. We have a deer lease not far, so this is a nice place to stay with the family while my dad and I enjoy the other property.

The cottages were lovely and comfortable. Very spacious and clean. Breakfasts were included, and excellent. We all really enjoyed our stay here and will be back.
